Part 3
FRONTLINE CATALYSTS' CLIMATE JUSTICE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN TITLE 1 SCHOOLS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CLASSROOM TEACHERS. FOCUSED ON GRADES 6-12, OUR PROGRAM ENGAGES YOUTH IN A CULTURALLY RELEVANT AND COMMUNITY-RESPONSIVE EDUCATION THAT MEETS STUDENTS WHERE THEY ARE WHILE CENTERING THEIR STORIES TO THE LARGER STRUGGLE OF CLIMATE JUSTICE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. OUR PROGRAM AIMS FOR YOUTH TO ACTIVELY ENGAGE IN AND HAVE BOTH ACCESS AND INFLUENCE OVER POLICY AND PLANNING DECISIONS THAT WILL INHERENTLY IMPACT THEIR FUTURES. THE STUDENTS CONDUCT COMMUNITY SCIENCE PROJECTS ON TOPICS OF AIR, SOIL AND WATER IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND PRESENT THEIR FINDING AND ADVOCATE TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND ORGANIZE THEIR COMMUNTY THROUGH TOWNHALLS AND OTHER MEDIUMS. THE SUCCESS OF OUR PILOT PROGRAM HAS CREATED A DEMAND FROM OTHER SCHOOLS IN THE BAY AREA TO OFFER OUR PROGRAM AS PART OF THEIR CURRICULUM. IT IS CURRENTLY TAUGHT AS AN ELECTIVE AND AS AN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM.
