EUROCROSSACADEMY (ECA) IS A HIGHLY REGARDED CYCLOCROSS STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM WITH CAMPS HOSTED BOTH IN THE U.S. AND IN EUROPE. FOUNDED BY DIRECTOR GEOFF PROCTOR IN 2003 AND NOW A NON-PROFIT 501(C)(3), THE PROGRAM COMBINES DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL RACING/TRAINING CAMPS THROUGH A HOLISTIC CURRICULUM WITH A CHARACTER COMPONENT TO DEVELOP YOUNG, ASPIRING 14-22 YEAR-OLDS INTO TOP CYCLOCROSS RACERS AND PURPOSE-DRIVEN YOUNG ADULTS. 2022 REPORT CARD: ECA SELECTED A POOL OF 57 ASPIRING STUDENT-ATHLETES TO ATTEND MONTANACROSSCAMP AND VERMONTCROSSCAMP IN SUMMER 2022, DRAWING FROM ALL MANNER OF DOMESTIC SOURCES (INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMS; LOCAL CLUBS; REGIONAL TEAMS; THE OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY (ODA); AND THE U.S. NATIONAL TEAM): ALL 57 ATHLETES MADE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS TOWARDS THEIR BEST LEVEL; NINETEEN (19) OF THE 57 ECA SUMMER CAMP RIDERS WERE SELECTED FOR ECA'S ACADEMY TEAM DURING BOTH THE OCTOBER AND DECEMBER 2022 EUROPEAN BLOCKS. NINE (9) OF THE 19 ECA BLOCK RIDERS WERE THEN SELECTED TO REPRESENT TEAM USA AT THE FEBRUARY 2023 WORLD CYCLOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS IN HOOGERHEIDE, NETHERLANDS. IN ADDITION TO STELLAR RACE RESULTS, ECA CULTIVATES THE PARAMOUNTCY OF CHARACTER AND AN EXPECTATION OF GIVING BACK THROUGH ITS GUIDANCE AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM (GAP). THIS PILOT PROGRAM TRACKS COMMUNITY-ORIENTED COMPONENTS LIKE COMMITMENT, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND INTEGRITY THROUGH REGULAR YEAR-ROUND COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ECA COACHES AND ATHLETES. ECA'S GOALS OVER THE NEXT 2023-2025 PERIOD ARE TO BROADEN THE ATHLETE POOL, DEEPEN THE COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE, AND CONTINUE TO GROW HIGH PERFORMANCE IN THE TRADITION OF "BECOMING BETTER TOGETHER" (BORROWED FROM A DANISH SPORTS DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT CALLED TALENT KKKENHAVE OR TALENT VEGETABLE GARDEN).
