TO SERVE, STRENGTHEN, AND SUPPORT THE MINISTRY AUTHORITY OF PARTNER CHRISTIAN CHURCHES IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH AND EAST. SPECIFICALLY INCLUDING BIBLE TRANSLATION INTO MINORITY LANGUAGES AND COMPASSIONATE RESPONSE TO LOCAL EMERGENCIES.

BIBLE TRANSLATION TRAINING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR 300 LANGUAGES IN 13 COUNTRIES: DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, ERITREA, INDIA, INDONESIA, NIGERIA, PAPUA NEW GUINEA, PHILIPPINES, SOMALIA, SOUTH SUDAN, SUDAN, TANZANIA, UGANDA, AND YEMEN. THE LONG-TERM OBJECTIVE IS THAT THESE CHURCHES CAN TRANSLATE, STEWARD, AND PROCLAIM BOTH THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE. OF THESE 300 LANGUAGES, 53 COMPLETED TRANSLATING THEIR ENTIRE NEW TESTAMENTS AND 2 COMPLETED TRANSLATING THEIR ENTIRE OLD TESTAMENTS.
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR BIBLE TRANSLATION TEAMS. OUR BIBLE TRANSLATION PARTNERS IN THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO FACE CONSTANT LETHAL THREATS FROM THE M23 PARAMILITARY GROUP AS THEY RAMPAGE CITIES, VILLAGES, AND THE COUNTRYSIDE. THIS VIOLENCE HAS RESULTED IN DEATHS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND AMONG BIBLE TRANSLATION TEAM MEMBERS, AS WELL AS DESTRUCTION OF HOMES AND FARMS. MORE THAN 5 MILLION PEOPLE ARE INTERNALLY DISPLACED IN THE DRC. IN SOME CASES THE COMMUNITIES OF OUR BIBLE TRANSLATION PARTNERS ARE EVACUATED DUE TO LOCAL VIOLENCE. IN OTHER CASES THESE COMMUNITIES ARE INUNDATED WITH INTERNALLY DISPLACED PEOPLE FLEEING VIOLENCE IN OTHER PLACES. OUR OBJECTIVE IS TO STAND WITH BIBLE TRANSLATION TEAMS DURING EMERGENCIES SO THAT THEY CAN BE A BLESSING TO PEOPLE FACING DIRE CIRCUMSTANCES, RECOVER QUICKLY, AND REMAIN PRODUCTIVE IN ADVANCING BIBLE TRANSLATION.
INTERNATIONAL CHURCH PRIORITIES. AS WE ARE ADVANCING BIBLE TRANSLATION, WE ARE COMMITTED TO LISTENING, AND RESPONDING, TO THE LOCAL MINISTRY PRIORITIES OF OUR INTERNATIONAL CHURCH PARTNERS. LIFE IN THESE COUNTRIES IS PHYSICALLY, SOCIALLY, AND SPIRITUALLY DIFFICULT AS OUR PARTNERS FACE SIMULTANEOUS THREATS IN EACH AREA. OUR BIBLE TRANSLATION PARTNER IN UGANDA ESTABLISHED A REVOLVING FUND TO ASSIST WIDOWS WITH LAUNCHING SELF-SUSTAINING BUSINESSES TO INCREASE THEIR INDEPENDENCE. OUR BIBLE TRANSLATION PARTNER IN THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO INSTALLED SOLAR PANELS IN REMOTE LOCATIONS TO GIVE BIBLE TRANSLATION TEAMS ACCESS TO RELIABLE ELECTRICITY. OUR OBJECTIVE IN THESE REPONSES IS TO STRENGTHEN THE CHURCHES' REPUTATION IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND DEMONSTRATE CHRISTIAN LOVE AND CARE IN PRACTICAL WAYS THAT SERVE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES.
