CONDUCTED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON THE ECOLOGICAL AND EVOLUTIONARY PROCESSES THAT UNDERLIE THE DIVERSITY & INTEGRITY OF THE NATIVE PLANTS & ECOSYSTEMS OF HAWAII. DESIGNED AND IMPLEMENTED MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES FOR CONSERVING & RESTORING NATIVE PLANTS AND ECOSYSTEMS OF HAWAII. IN PRACTICE, OUR WORK INVOLVES A COMBINATION OF FENCING, WEED CONTROL, REFORESTATION, AND ENDANGERED-PLANT REINTRODUCTION. WE WORK IN COLLABORATION WITH PRIVATE LAND OWNERS AND WITH PUBLIC AGENCIES, SUCH AS THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, US FISH & WILDLIFE SERVICE AND HAWAII NATURAL AREA RESERVE SYSTEM. WE HAVE FENCED AND CONTROLLED ALIEN (NON-NATIVE) SPECIES IN MORE THAN 40,000 ACRES AND HAVE REINTRODUCED MORE THAN 45,000 SEEDLINGS OF ENDANGERED PLANTS ON HAWAII ISLAND TO DATE.
