SOCAL LERA PROVIDES A VENUE FOR ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS TO OBTAIN UNIQUE INSIGHTS, TO EXPAND THEIR KNOWLEDGE BASE, AND TO NETWORK WITH OTHER LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS PROFESSIONALS. MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO REPRESENTATIVES OF LABOR AND MANAGEMENT, UNION OFFICIALS, ATTORNEYS, HUMAN RESOURCES PERSONNEL, NEUTRALS, STUDENTS, AND ACADEMICS, AS WELL AS ANYONE INVOLVED IN OR INTERESTED IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, AND OTHER LABOR OR EMPLOYMENT ISSUES IN EITHER THE PRIVATE OR PUBLIC SECTOR. SOCAL LERA, A CHAPTER WITH OVER 200 MEMBERS, HAS A HISTORY OF ACTIVISM, PRODUCING SEVERAL MEMBERS WHO HAVE GONE ON TO PARTICIPATE IN VARIOUS LEVELS IN THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION. MANY FORMER CHAPTER PRESIDENTS, WHO REMAIN ACTIVE IN THE CHAPTER LONG AFTER THEIR TERMS HAVE EXPIRED, ARE NOW LEADERS OF THE NATIONAL IRRA.
