IN 2023, LONGFELLOW RISING FOCUSED MAINLY ON INTERNAL ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ON SUPPORTING ONE ANOTHER AS BUSINESS OWNERS, WORKERS, ARTISTS AND RESIDENTS BY CONTINUING TO MEET MONTHLY TO DISCUSS ISSUES IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS. THIS DIRECTLY INVOLVED AND BENEFITED 12 PEOPLE, BUT MORE WIDELY BENEFITED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING YEAR AS WE LAUNCHED MORE PROGRAMS AND GRANTS.WE CONTINUED TO PUBLICIZE THE NEEDS OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD BY SPEAKING WITH REPORTERS AND THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE EFFORTS TO REBUILD. LONGFELLOW RISING BOARD MEMBERS WERE QUOTED IN MULTIPLE NEWS STORIES IN LOCAL PAPERS, RADIO AND TV.WE ALSO SPONSORED A MULTI-MEDIA ART INSTALLATION CALLED "FACING THE FIRE" BY LOCAL ARTISTS PAUL HERWIG AND QUEEN DREA THAT TOOK PLACE OVER MULTIPLE DAYS. THE WORK WAS SEEN AND HEARD BY HUNDREDS OR POSSIBLY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE PASSING BY THE FORMER 3RD PRECINCT HEADQUARTERS AT LAKE ST AND MINNEHAHA AVE.
