TO PROVIDE LIBRARY WORKERS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO TURN THEIR IDEALS INTO ACTION, FOCUSED ON ISSUES LIKE PRIVACY, INTELLECTUAL FREEDOM, AND INFORMATION DEMOCRACY.

IN 2023, LIBRARY FREEDOM PROJECT OFFERED UNIQUE AND HIGH DEMAND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING AND CONTINUED TO BUILD OUR COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IN MARCH, WE HIRED A NEW DEPUTY DIRECTOR. IN APRIL, WE STARTED A NEW MONTHLY NEWSLETTER HIGHLIGHTING LFP EVENTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS. WE LAUNCHED OUR REGIONAL HUB INITIATIVE, HOSTING COMMUNITY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN PHILADELPHIA, IOWA CITY, AND PORTLAND. IN SEPTEMBER, WE WON THE PRESTIGIOUS EFF AWARD FOR INFORMATION DEMOCRACY. AT THE END OF THE YEAR, WE FOCUSED ON NEW PROGRAMMATIC INITIATIVES INCLUDING WEBINARS COVERING PRIVACY AND REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, AI AND ETHICS, AND VENDOR ACCOUNTABILITY.
