THE FOUNDATION HOSTED TRAINING SEMINARS FOR SNYDER ISD, HERMLEIGH ISD AND IRA ISD. IN TOTAL AT THE THREE SEMINARS, OVER 460 STAFF MEMBERS WERE TRAINED BY THE TEXAS TECH HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE. THE INITIATIVE PROVIDES PRE-CRISIS MENTAL HEALTH CARE TO PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS. FACULTY AND STAFF INCLUDING ADMINISTRATORS, TEACHERS, COUNSELORS, CUSTODIANS AND CAFETERIA WORKERS WERE INSTRUCTED IN HOW TO IDENTIFY STUDENTS IN NEED OF MENTAL HEALTH CARE.IN ADDITION, ONE SNYDER, TX POLICE OFFICER AND ONE SCURRY COUNTY DEPUTY WERE SPONSERED BY THE FOUNDATION TO ATTEND SUICIDE PREVENTION TRAINING IN NEW BRAUNFELS, TX. THE TRAINING CONCERNED DE-ESCALATION OF MENAL HEALTH CALL RECEIVED VIA 911.
