THE LAWRENCE RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION (LRA) IS AN ASSEMBLY OF COMMERCIAL RESTAURANT OWNERS, EXECUTIVE CHEFS AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK TOGETHER FOR THE BENEFIT OF LAWRENCE, KS AND DOUGLAS COUNTY, KS. LRA AIMS TO SUPPORT HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY WORKERS, OUR COMMUNITY, ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT WITHIN DOUGLAS COUNTY, KS THROUGH FUNDS, GRANTS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAMS. LRA WAS FOUNDED IN 2017 WITH PRINCIPAL FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES BEGINNING IN 2020. THE HOSPITALITY WORKERS RELIEF FUND (RELIEF FUND) WAS ESTABLISHED BY LRA IN 2020 TO PROVIDE DIRECT AID TO UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED SERVICE INDUSTRY WORKERS AS A RESULT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. LRA INTENDS TO MAINTAIN THE RELIEF FUND BEYOND THE RESOLUTION OF THE PANDEMIC TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY AID TO HOSPITALITY WORKERS EXPERIENCING UNFORESEEN FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS IN ADDITION TO OTHER COMMUNITY SUPPORT CAUSES SUCH AS HUNGER RELIEF, FOOD WASTE REDUCTION AND FUTURE PROGRAMS.
