THE MISSION OF CROSSROADS FOR WOMEN IS TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE, INTEGRATED SERVICES TO EMPOWER WOMEN EMERGING FROM INCARCERATION TO ACHIEVE SAFE, HEALTHY, AND FULFILLING LIVES IN THE COMMUNITY, FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN.

THE CROSSROADS PROVIDES HOUSING AND INTENSIVE SUPPORT SERVICES FOR WOMEN WITH CO-OCCURRING MENTAL AND ADDICTIVE DISORDERS WORKING TOWARDS SELF- SUFFICIENCY. ALL CLIENTS HAVE A DIAGNOSIS APPROPRIATE FOR COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES AND HAVE DEMONSTRATED A NEED FOR SUPPORT TO ADDRESS NEEDS IN AT MINIMUM FIVE OF THE SEVEN DOMAINS: 1) MENTAL HEALTH 2) SUBSTANCE ABUSE 3) LEGAL 4) MEDICAL 5) VOCATIONAL 6) FAMILY/SOCIAL, AND 7) INDEPENDENT LIVING. THE CROSSROADS PROGRAM IS A PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM UTILIZING SCATTERED SITE HOUSING FOR JUSTICE-INVOLVED WOMEN CYCLING BETWEEN HOMELESSNESS AND INCARCERATION AND THEIR CHILDREN. THE COUNTY PROGRAM IS A PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM FOR WOMEN EXITING THE METROPOLITAN DETENTION CENTER FUNDED BY THE BERNALILLO COUNTY COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS PROGRAM. TO QUALIFY FOR THE CROSSROADS, WOMEN MUST MEET THE CRITERIA SET FORTH BY THE BERNALILLO COUNTY CONNECTIONS PROGRAM. TO QUALIFY FOR THE CROSSROADS, WOMEN ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE SUBMITTED A REFERRAL TO THE BERNALILLO COUNTY CONNECTIONS PROGRAM, HAVE A CO-OCCURRING DISORDER AND HAVE BEEN INCARCERATED AT METROPOLITAN DETENTION CENTER A SPECIFIC NUMBER OF TIMES AS DEFINED BY THE BERNALILLO COUNTY CONNECTIONS PROGRAM. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNM PATHWAYS NAVIGATOR PROGRAM, CROSSROADS PROVIDES OUTREACH AND SERVICE COORDINATION FOR WOMEN WHO ARE LIVING ON THE STREETS OR IN EMERGENCY SHELTERS. NAVIGATORS CONNECT WOMEN WITH HEALTH CARE, HOUSING, EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT AND LEGAL RESOURCES, AND THEN FOLLOW THEIR PROGRESS TOWARDS STABILIZATION. MAYA'S PLACE, LOCATED IN NE ALBUQUERQUE, IS A TWENTY-SIX BED CONGREGATE LIVING SITE FOR WOMEN UPON RELEASE FROM INCARCERATION. WOMEN PARTICIPATE IN ON-SITE THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMMING ADDRESSING SUBSTANCE ADDICTIONS AND MENTAL ILLNESS, AS WELL AS LIFE SKILLS EDUCATION, GROUP THERAPY, PARENTING, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, HOLISTIC HEALTH SERVICES AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES. ALL SERVICES ARE AIMED AT HELPING THE WOMEN MOVE TOWARD SELF-SUFFICIENCY. PROGRAM RULES AND A GRADUATED, GOAL DRIVEN LEVEL SYSTEM, CREATE CLOSE SUPERVISION AND STRUCTURE EARLY IN THE PROGRAM WITH INCREASING INDEPENDENCE AS SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATION CONTINUES. TO QUALIFY FOR THE MAYA'S PLACE PROGRAM, A PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE NM DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL PROBATION OFFICE, WOMEN MUST BE ON PAROLE OR PROBATION THROUGH THE NEW MEXICO CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT AND/OR CAN BE REFERRED THROUGH THEIR FEDERAL PROBATION OFFICERS. WOMEN ENTERING MAYA'S PLACE, A PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE NM DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND THE UNITED STATES OFFICE OF PROBATION AND PRE-TRIAL SERVICES, MUST TEST NEGATIVE FOR SUBSTANCE AND/OR ALCOHOL USE AT ADMISSION AND HAVE A CO-OCCURRING DISORDER. THE PAVILIONS, LOCATED IN LOS LUNAS, IS A HIGHLY STRUCTURED SIX TO TWELVE MONTH TWENTY-SIX BED, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM FOR FORMERLY INCARCERATED WOMEN ON PROBATION AND/OR PAROLE THROUGH THE NEW MEXICO CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT. THE PAVILIONS PROGRAM CONSISTS OF CONGREGATE HOUSING, INTENSIVE COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES, AND INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING THAT IS FOCUSED ON LIFE SKILLS, VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE RECOVERY. ALL SERVICES ARE AIMED AT HELPING THE WOMEN MOVE TOWARD SELF-SUFFICIENCY. PROGRAM RULES AND A GRADUATED, GOAL DRIVEN LEVEL SYSTEM, CREATE CLOSE SUPERVISION AND STRUCTURE EARLY IN THE PROGRAM, WITH INCREASING INDEPENDENCE AS SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATION CONTINUES. THE PEER-ON-PEER SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAM (POPSS) PROGRAMMING SUPPORTS THE CLIENTS OF THE CROSSROADS FOR WOMEN'S PROGRAMS IN MAINTAINING THEIR STABILITY THROUGH INDIVIDUAL SERVICES AND STAYING CONNECTED TO THE CROSSROADS COMMUNITY. TO QUALIFY FOR THE POPSS PROGRAM, A CLIENT OF THE POPSS PROGRAM IS REQUIRED TO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE MAYA'S PLACE, PAVILIONS, OR THE CROSSROADS PROGRAMS. UPON GRADUATION AND/OR DISCHARGE FROM A CROSSROAD'S PROGRAM, A WOMAN IS ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL IN THE POPSS PROGRAM. PARTICIPATION IN THE POPSS PROGRAM IS VOLUNTARY. CLIENT'S WILL COMPLETE AN INTAKE INTO THE POPSS AFTERCARE SYSTEM AND COMPLETE A POPSS SCREENING TOOL DURING INTAKE. CLIENT'S WILL WORK WITH THE PROGRAM CASE MANAGER IN COMPLETING AN IMMEDIATE NEEDS PLAN TO IDENTIFY A SHORT TERM GOAL THAT THEY WOULD LIKE SUPPORT IN REACHING. THE PROGRAM COORDINATOR WILL COMPLETE A POPSS SCREENING TOOL WITH CLIENT'S EVERY 90 DAYS TO HELP MEASURE CLIENT'S SUCCESS IN REACHING THEIR IDENTIFIED GOALS.
