WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT - COMMUNITY OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT: IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL TECH TRAINING PROVIDERS, NONPROFITS, EMPLOYERS, AND OTHER KEY COMMUNITY LEADERS, TECHBUFFALO HOSTS A SERIES OF EVENTS, WORKSHOPS, AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO CONNECT COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO INFORMATION AND RESOURCES IN THE TECH COMMUNITY, RANGING FROM TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES TO CAREER PATHWAYS. MOST OUTREACH IS DESIGNED TO REACH COMMUNITY MEMBERS HISTORICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED IN TECH CAREERS. IN 2023, WE ENGAGED WITH 2,000+ COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN OUTREACH THAT RANGED FROM LARGE SCALE EVENTS LIKE A WOMEN IN TECH CONFERENCE TO SMALLER SCALE EVENTS LIKE COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS NON-TRADITIONAL PATHWAYS TO A TECH CAREER.
COLLEGE TECH TALENT ATTRACTION & RETENTION: TO ACTIVATE WESTERN NEW YORK'S COLLEGE TO CAREER TALENT PIPELINE, TECHBUFFALO IMPLEMENTED THE POWERUPTECH PROGRAM. POWERUPTECH IS DESIGNED TO RETAIN COLLEGE TECH TALENT IN WESTERN NEW YORK BY PROVIDING SUPPLEMENTAL PROGRAMMING TO TECH/TECH ALIGNED INTERNS THAT ELEVATES WNY AS A PREMIER PLACE TO LIVE, WORK, AND PLAY THROUGH PLACED-BASED, COMMUNITY-ORIENTED PROGRAMMING AND COLLABORATIONS WITH LOCAL EMPLOYERS. OUR PROGRAM ENGAGED 165+ TECH/TECH ALIGNED INTERNS FROM 12 COMPANIES.
