WE ARE MISSIONED TO BUILD A PLATFORM ON WHICH NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS CAN RUN PUBLIC COMPETITIONS TO APPLY MACHINE LEARNING TO PROBLEMS RELEVANT TO PUBLIC GOOD.

RB AND LPX FOUNDATION ORGANIZES EDUCATIONAL EVENTS PUBLICLY AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND MACHINE LEARNING. IN 2021 WE RAN A READING GROUP WHICH FOCUSED ON QUANTUM COMPUTING AND QUANTUM MACHINE LEARNING. DURING 2021 RB AND LPX FOUNDATION COLLABORATED WITH THE TOPOLOGICAL MOLECULAR BIOLOGY LAB AT UC DAVIS. MEMBERS OF THE FOUNDATION PARTICIPATED IN READING GROUPS WITH THE LAB AND PROVIDED TRAINING TO STUDENTS AND RESEARCH ASSISTANTS ON MACHINE LEARNING AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. THE MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUES WE DISCUSSED AND STUDIED HAVE POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS TO DNA OF VIRUS AND BACTERIA AND POTENTIALLY COULD HELP UNDERSTANDING WHEN CORONA VIRUSES ARE CAPABLE OF BINDING TO HUMAN CELLS. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING TRAINING TO MEMBERS OF THE TOPOLOGICAL MOLECULAR BIOLOGY LAB THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDED DONATIONS TO THE LAB FOR NEW COMPUTER EQUIPMENT. THE LABORATORY HAD BEEN DUE FOR EQUIPMENT RENEWAL EVEN BEFORE THE PANDEMIC. THE PANDEMIC MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR STUDENTS TO USE LABORATORY FACILITIES IN PERSON. WHEN RESTRICTIONS BEGAN TO EASE NEAR THE END OF 2021 IT SEEMED URGENT TO OBTAIN NEW EQUIPMENT. THE DONATION FROM THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED TWO HIGH END MAC WORKSTATIONS FOR COMPUTATION AND PREPARATION OF RESEARCH RESULTS FOR PUBLICATION.
