EXPANDED HEALTHCARE SUPPORT FROM 3 TO 6 VILLAGES IN RURAL SENEGAL. THE KEY TO EXPANSION IS THE SELECTION AND TRAINING OF NEW COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS (CHWS) WHO ARE TRUSTED MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. CHWS WERE CLINICALLY TRAINED TO SERVE THE DAILY HEALTH NEEDS OF COMMUNITY POPULATIONS BY DELIVERING AN INTEGRATED PACKAGE OF HEALTHCARE SERVICES, INCLUDING REPRODUCTIVE, MATERNAL, NEONATAL, AND CHILD HEALTH UP TO 2 YEARS OLD.AS A RESULT OF THE EXPANSION, FOHSEN CONDUCTED 3,000 HOME VISITS, WITH MORE THAN 60% REFERRED TO LOCAL HEALTH CLINICS. IN ADDITION, OVER 1,900 COMMUNITY MEMBERS ATTENDED THE ANNUAL HEALTHCARE FAIR AND RECEIVED FREE CONSULTATIONS AND MEDICATIONS.
PROVIDED OVER 300 HOURS OF COMPREHENSIVE CLINICAL TRAINING TO 9 COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS (CHWS).THE FOUNDATION OF CLINICAL TRAINING WAS OVERSEEN AND CONDUCTED BY SENEGAL'S REGIONAL MINISTRY OF HEALTH. NOTE, IN 2023 FOHSEN WILL EXPAND CHW TRAINING BY USING MUSO, A US BASED NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION. SPECIFIC TRAINING INCLUDED:1. PROVIDE TRAINING ON OUTPATIENT CARE 2.
