THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO 1) ACQUIRE AND HOLD TITLE TO PROPERTY LOCATED AT 6501 NAVIGATION BOULEVARD, HOUSTON, TEXAS, (PROJECT) 2) BORROW LOW-INTEREST RATE FUNDS FROM THIRD-PARTY LENDERS, 3) LEASE A PORTION OF THE PROJECT TO UPCDC (WHO SHALL SUBLEASE SUCH PORTION TO TXRX TO OPERATE OR LEASE AS OFFICE, RETAIL, AND OTHER ANCILLARY USES IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS STATED CHARITABLE PURPOSES) AND 4) LEASE THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE PROJECT TO EAST END MAKER HUB SPONSOR LLC, A TEXAS LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY WHICH SHALL FURTHER SUBLEASE THE FACILITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATED CHARITABLE PURPOSES OF UPCDC AND TXRX. THE HUB IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE TXRX AND OTHER HOUSTON INNOVATORS WITH A STATE-OF-THE-ART MAKERSPACE AND MANUFACTURING CENTER, THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND AND SCALE OPERATIONS AND TO CREATE POSITIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT FOR HOUSTON'S EAST END RESIDENTS. CONSTRUCTION ON THE HUB WAS COMPLETED IN 2021. THE EAST END MAKER HUB WILL GENERATE AN ESTIMATED $153 MILLION IN ANNUAL ECONOMIC IMPACT. INVESTING IN INNOVATION AND MANUFACTURING WILL DIVERSIFY HOUSTON'S ECONOMY, DECREASING DEPENDENCY ON A SINGLE INDUSTRY LIKE OIL AND GAS. THE MAKER HUB WILL STRENGTHEN HOUSTON'S EAST END COMMUNITY BY CREATING 400+ LOCAL JOBS DIRECTLY ALONG WITH 200 INDUCED JOBS ANNUALLY, PROVIDING THE AREA WITH LONG-TERM EMPLOYMENT, BUSINESS AND RETAIL OPPORTUNITIES.
