LAUREL'S HOUSE PERFORMED 4,383 SPAY NEUTER SURGERIES ON OWNED PET CATS AND DOGS IN 2021 AT NO COST TO THEIR OWNERS. EACH SURGERY ALSO INCLUDED CORE VACCINATIONS A MICROCHIP AND CLIENT EDUCATION REGARDING PET OWNERSHIP AND PREVENTIVE CARE. THE FAMILIES SERVED BY THIS PROGRAM DO NOT HAVE THE MEANS TO ACMES VETERINARY CARE VIA OTHER AVENUES.
LAUREL'S HOUSE PROVIDED FREE VETERINARY CARE FOR 104 COMPANION ANIMALS IN SITUATIONS WHERE THE ONLY ALTERNATIVES WERE SURRENDER OR EUTHANASIA OF THE PET. THIS ACCESS TO VETERINARY CARE SAFETY NET PROGRAM IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT IN THE HOUSTON TEXAS COMMUNITY WHERE ALL LOCAL SHELTERS ARE OVERBURDENED. CASES RANGED FROM SEVERE BURN INJURIES SUSTAINED IN A HOUSE FIRE DURING THE FEBRUARY 2021 FREEZE FRACTURE REPAIR SURGERIES TREATMENT OF LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESSES SUCH AS PARVOVIRUS AND FREE BOARDING AND VETERINARY CARE FOR PETS OF OWNERS FLEEING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SITUATIONS.
LAUREL'S HOUSE PROVIDED FREE VETERINARY CARE TO 21 HORSES IN 2021. THE CARE PROVIDED RANGED FROM CORE VACCINATIONS WOUND MANAGEMENT DENTAL CARE LAMENESS EVALUATION AND TREATMENT MASS REMOVALS AND TREATMENT OF INFECTIONS.
