1. LAZY POINT FARMS STARTED 2021 BY HARVESTING ITS OWN KELP FROM 3 SITES IN MAY 2021, WORKING DIRECTLY WITH RESEARCHER AT ADELPHI UNIVERSITY FOR GROWTH RESEARCH MEASUREMENTS. THE SUGAR KELP HARVEST WAS USED FOR ANALYSES AND A FERTILIZER STUDY AT STONYBROOK UNIVERSITY; IT WAS ALSO SENT TO CERTIFIED LABS FOR ANALYSES AND TO THE EAST END FOOD INSTITUTE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROOF OF PACKAGING AND PROCESSING CONCEPTS. LAZY POINT FARMS UTILIZED FINDINGS FROM WORKING WITH 1 PRIVATE HATCHERY IN 2020 AND EXPANDED IT TO SUCCESSFUL COORDINATION AND COLLABORATION WITH 4 HATCHERIES ON LONG ISLAND AND HELPED PROVIDE SPOOLS TO 15 GROWERS IN FALL 2021. LAZY POINT FARMS COORDINATED MONTHLY Q&A CALLS FOR LOCAL HATCHERIES AND GROWERS AND ESTABLISHED A RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND TO PURSUE INQUIRIES REGARDING TEMPERATURE OF KELP DURING TRANSPORT. THE BROOKLYN DIAPER PROJECT FORMED PARTNERSHIPS WITH FOUR NEW ORGANIZATIONS AND ESTABLISHED A PARTNERSHIP WITH REFOUNDRY, A NONPROFIT DEDICATED TO HELPING FORMERLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS DEVELOP PROFESSIONAL TRADES, BUILD 3 DIAPER HUBS FOR A SPECIFIC REGION IN BROOKLYN. ONGOING OUTREACH EFFORTS WERE BUILT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL AS AN ONGOING SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN TO BOLSTER SUPPORT FOR THE DIAPER HUB PILOT PROGRAM. THE HUBS ARE DESIGNED TO BE ABLE TO ACCEPT DIAPER DONATIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS PROVIDE A SOURCE OF SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO ARE IN NEED.
