IN 2022, ORIGINS COUNCIL EFFECTIVELY ADVOCATED FOR LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY CHANGES TO CALIFORNIA LAW TO SUPPORT MORE SUSTAINABLE STATEWIDE COMMERCIAL CANNABIS LICENSING, TAX AND REGULATORY FRAMEWORKS THAT PRIORITIZE: PUBLIC HEALTH PROTECTIONS; SMALL BUSINESS INTERESTS; DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION GOALS; AND ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPED AND SUBMITTED TWO GRANT PROPOSALS FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION ACTIVITY. THE OBJECTIVES OF THESE GRANT PROJECTS FOCUS ON SUSTAINABLE RURAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE COMMERCIAL CANNABIS FARMING REGIONS OF CALIFORNIA. ALL 2022 PROGRAM ACTIVITIES DIRECTLY BENEFITED THE SOCIAL WELFARE OF POPULATIONS IN THE 44% OF CALIFORNIA JURISDICTIONS CURRENTLY SUPPORTING REGULATED COMMERCIAL CANNABIS ACTIVITIES IN CALIFORNIA, WHICH INCLUDES A COLLECTIVE POPULATION OF OVER 30 MILLION.
