SINCE 1962, THE SILVERTON AVALANCHE SCHOOL HAS EDUCATED BACKCOUNTRY TRAVELERS ABOUT THE HAZARDS OF THE MOUNTAINS. AS THE OLDEST, CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING SNOW SAFETY AND AVALANCHE EDUCATION PROGRAM IN THE UNITED STATES, SILVERTON AVALANCHE SCHOOL IS DEDICATED TO EMPOWERING OUR STUDENTS WITH THE TOOLS, TECHNOLOGIES, TACTICS AND TECHNIQUES TO MAKE COMPETENT DECISIONS IN CONSEQUENTIAL MOUNTAIN TERRAIN.

SILVERTON AVALANCHE SCHOOL PROVIDES AVALANCHE AND SNOW SCIENCE EDUCATION. SEARCH AND RESCUE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED FOR THE RUGGED ALPINE ENVIRONMENT OF SAN JUAN COUNTY COLORADO AS AN ADJUNCT TO SAN JUAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT. 22-23 SCHOOL YEAR- CELEBRATED THE ORGANIZATIONS 60TH SEASON OF OPERATION HOSTED 4TH ANNUAL SNOW AND AVALANCHE CONFERENCE FACILITATED 40 PUBLIC TRAININGS AND CUSTOM COURSES EDUCATING OVER 500 STUDENTS PROVIDED CURRICULUM TO HUNDRED MORE STUDENT THROUGH THE SAS PROVIDER NETWORK PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM 18 PROFESSIONAL LEVEL COURSES ACROSS 4 STATES 18 INSTRUCTORS SERVED OVER 125 STUDENTS PUBLISHED A NEW FIELD BOOK RECREATIONAL PROGRAM 15 RECREATIONAL LEVEL COURSES IN COLORADO AND NEW MEXICO SAS PILOTED 2 YOUTH SPECIFIC COURSES 13 INSTRUCTORS SERVED OVER 300 STUDENTS RESCUE PROGRAM 16 RESCUE COURSES- 13 WERE RECREATIONAL LEVEL AND 3 WERE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL 10 INSTRUCTORS LEADING PROVIDER OF PROFESSIONAL AVALANCHE SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAININGS TO SKI PATROL, BACKCOUNTRY RESCUE TEAMS AND MECHANIZED RESCUERS HELICOPTER TRAINING COLLABORATION WITH FLIGHT FOR LIFE COLORADO FACILITATED THE FIRST SOUTHERN REGION DOG CAMP IN COLLABORATION WITH COLORADO RAPID AVALANCHE DEPLOYMENT TACTICAL PROGRAM MARKED 39 YEARS OF SNOW SAFETY AND AVALANCHE EDUCATION FOR OUR NATIONS MILITARY, FEDERAL AND STATE AGENCIES CONTINUED ALPINE AND SPECIAL OPERATIONS TRAININGS WITH PARARESCUEMEN, COMBAT CONTROLLERS FROM THE AIRFORCE, AND NAVY SEALS
