CHILDREN'S PROTECTIVE SERVICES: CAP, A COMMUNITY PREVENTION PROJECT, IMPACTS THE COMMUNITY BY PREVENTING AND INTERVENING IN SERIOUS CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN. CAP ADDRESSES THE ROOT CAUSES OF ALL FORMS OF CHILD ABUSE BY BREAKING THE CYCLE OF ASSAULT WITH PREVENTION EDUCATION TO CHILDREN, SCHOOL PERSONNEL, AND PARENTS. DURING THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR, CAP SERVED 4,874 SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN, 626 PARENTS/GUARDIANS, AND 434 TEACHERS/STAFF AT 15 SCHOOLS, AND 217 OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS. THE CAP PROGRAM WAS INVOLVED IN 41 REPORTS, INCLUDING 19 SEXUAL ASSAULTS AND 22 OTHER ASSAULTS (PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, NEGLECT, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ETC.). THE CAP PROGRAM WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN 47 BRIDGING REPORTS TO SCHOOL STAFF OR OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES. (6,151 TOTAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS)
