MISSIONS: IN 2021, CROSSFIRE SERVED 7,343 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS WHO STRUGGLE WITH FOOD INSECURITIES. WE DISTRIBUTED APPROXIMATELY 1,600,000 POUNDS OF FOOD TO FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT STRUGGLE WITH MAKING GUT WRENCHING CHOICES BETWEEN FOOD AND RENT, UTILITIES, AND PRESCRIPTIONS. 713 FAMILIES (AVERAGE FAMILY SIZE IS 3) RECEIVED A THANKSGIVING FOOD BOX WITH EVERYTHING THEY WOULD NEED TO COOK A TRADITIONAL THANKSGIVING MEAL, INCLUDING A TURKEY OR HAM FOR THE FAMILY.
CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS DISTRIBUTION: WE DISTRIBUTED 91,507 POUNDS OF CLOTHING AND 40,033 POUNDS OF HOUSEHOLD ITEMS AT NO COST TO FAMILIES IN NEED. ALL OF THE ITEMS WERE PROVIDED FROM OUR GENEROUS COMMUNITY THROUGH DONATIONS.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES AND ASSISTANCE: WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE 108,836 PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS SUCH AS SHAMPOO, DEODORANT, TOILET PAPER, SOAP, TOOTHPASTE, AND TOOTHBRUSHES; 12,000 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO CHILDREN HEADED BACK TO SCHOOL. THIS WAS A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT WITH PIKES PEAK UNITED WAY, COSILOVEYOU, DISCOVERY CHURCH, MERCY'S GATE, COMMUNITY DONORS, OTHER LOCAL CHURCHES, BUSINESSES, AND ORGANIZATIONS. 618 CHILDREN RECEIVED CHRISTMAS GIFTS. 4,498 BLANKETS WERE DISTRIBUTED AND 1,804 BIBLES AND NEW TESTAMENTS WERE GIVEN AWAY INCLUDING TO THE COUNTY JAIL. ALL OF THE OPERATIONS ARE CARRIED OUT BY VOLUNTEERS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE FULL-TIME (EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR) AND ONE PART-TIME (VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR) PAID STAFF. WE LOGGED APPROXIMATELY 49,500 VOLUNTEER HOURS. THESE HOURS ARE VALUED AT $1,549,350 (COLORADO ASSIGNS THE VALUE OF $31.50 PER VOLUNTEER HOUR).
