Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
JAPAN AMERICA SOCIETY OF COLORADO IS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING PEOPLE TO PEOPLE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN COLORADO AND JAPAN BY SERVING AS A BRIDGE TO CONNECT VIA BUSINESS, EDUCATION, CIVIC, AND CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES. WE ARE DEDICATED TO PROMOTING POSITIVE U.S.-COLORADO-JAPAN RELATIONS THROUGH DEVELOPING RELATIONSHIPS ON MANY LEVELS THROUGHOUT OUR STATE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
WHILE NOT BACK TO FULL PRE-PANDEMIC PROGRAM LEVELS AND ACTIVITIES, OUR PROGRAMMING INCREASED DRAMATICALLY YEAR-OVER-YEAR DUE TO CREATIVE RESCHEDULING AND PROMOTION OF INITIATIVES AND EVENTS AND USE OF OUTDOOR SPACES. ONE SUCH PROGRAM WAS OUR 2021 ANNUAL GALA. THE JASC INTENTIONALLY CHANGED THE TIMING OF THIS EVENT FROM NOVEMBER TO JULY IN ORDER TO COINCIDE WITH THE RESCHEDULED TOKYO OLYMPIC GAMES. THE GALA, WHICH IS A SIGNATURE EVENT FOR OUR ORGANIZATION, BECAME A LOCAL OLYMPIC WATCH PARTY NOT ONLY INCREASING AWARENESS AROUND OUR MISSION, BUT PROVIDING AN INTERACTIVE PLATFORM TO BUILD POSITIVE COLORADO - JAPAN RELATIONSHIPS, ALSO PART OF OUR MISSION.
THE JASC ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT IS AN IMPORTANT NETWORKING EVENT THAT ALLOWS MEMBERS OF THE LOCAL INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO COME TOGETHER FOR A RELAXED DAY OF GOLF FOLLOWED BY A SUSHI DINNER. EMPLOYEES OF BOTH JAPANESE COMPANIES LOCATED IN COLORADO AND COLORADO COMPANIES DOING BUSINESS IN JAPAN HAVE THE CHANCE TO MEET AND LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER. THIS FUN EVENT WAS MOVED TO OCTOBER THIS YEAR WHICH WAS A FUN CHANGE AND BROUGHT MUCH DESIRED COOLER WEATHER.
WITH RELIEF FROM COVID RESTRICTIONS, CULTURAL EVENTS CAME BACK IN 2021 AS BOTH LIVE AND VIRTUAL EVENTS, ALLOWING US TO REACH A BROADER CONSTITUENCY. WHILE WE STILL OFFERED SOME ONLINE EVENTS, ESPECIALLY EARLY IN THE YEAR, WE SLOWLY MOVED TO HYBRID AND IN-PERSON EVENTS AS THE YEAR PROGRESSED. THE JASC WAS HONORED AND RECOGNIZED FOR HOSTING AN IN-PERSON SYMPOSIUM OF ALL JAPAN AMERICA SOCIETIES FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY IN DENVER. ADDITIONALLY, JASC HOSTEDMANY OTHER BIG EVENTS TO INCREASE AWARENESS AND EXPAND RELATIONSHIPS, SUCH AS "ONIGIRI MAKING PARTY", A "NEW YEAR CARD MAKING PARTY", AND JASC MEMBER HOLIDAY PARTY, AMONG OTHERS.
