JAPAN AMERICA SOCIETY OF COLORADO IS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING PEOPLE TO PEOPLE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN COLORADO AND JAPAN BY SERVING AS A BRIDGE TO CONNECT VIA BUSINESS, EDUCATION, CIVIC, AND CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES. WE ARE DEDICATED TO PROMOTING POSITIVE U.S.-COLORADO-JAPAN RELATIONS THROUGH DEVELOPING RELATIONSHIPS ON MANY LEVELS THROUGHOUT OUR STATE.

THE JASC ANNUAL GALA IN 2022 FOCUSED ON THE CULTURE OF KIMONO - BOTH TRADITIONAL AND MODERN. THIS EVENT WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 200 INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS PEOPLE IN THE COLORADO COMMUNITY. WE SHOWCASED KIMONO WORN BY MODELS AND ALSO DISPLAYED THROUGHOUT THE ROOM AND HAD AN EXPERT EXPLANATION ON HOW THE KIMONO ARE CREATED USING TRADITIONAL METHODS MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND YEARS OLD. WE ALSO SHOWED THE MODERN TREND OF UPCYCLING OLD OR DAMAGED KIMONO TO CREATE MODERN CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES. A DEMONSTRATION OF THE TRADITIONAL MARTIAL ART *IAIDO* SHOWCASED THE KIMONO IN YET ANOTHER WAY. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL EVENT AND WAS OUR HIGHEST PROGRAM EXPENSE OF THE YEAR.
THE JASC ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT IS AN IMPORTANT NETWORKING EVENT THAT ALLOWS MEMBERS OF THE LOCAL INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO COME TOGETHER FOR A RELAXED DAY OF GOLF FOLLOWED BY A SUSHI DINNER. EMPLOYEES OF BOTH JAPANESE COMPANIES LOCATED IN COLORADO AND COLORADO COMPANIES DOING BUSINESS IN JAPAN HAVE THE CHANCE TO MEET AND LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER. THIS FUN EVENT WAS HELD IN JUNE, MOVING IT BACK TO SUMMER BUT A BIT EARLIER IN THE YEAR TO AVOID THE EXTREME HEAT OF JULY AND AUGUST. WE WELCOMED MORE THAN 100 GOLFERS AND 10 VOLUNTEERS.
A NEW EVENT THIS YEAR WAS THE JAPAN CURRENTS, SUPPORTED BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JAPAN AMERICA SOCIETIES AND THE EMBASSY OF JAPAN. HELD ON MARCH 7, WE WELCOMED AROUND 100 BUSINESS PEOPLE AND A PANEL OF SPEAKERS TO HIGHLIGHT THE 2022 ECONOMIC OUTLOOK FOR THE U.S. AND JAPAN.
