THE JOHNSON COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS IS A COMPREHENSIVE ART CENTER SERVING THE RESIDENTS OF JOHNSON COUNTY AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES WHO ARE SEEKING AUTHENTIC APPALACHIAN ARTWORK

IN FY 21-22 JOHNSON COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS HOSTED 10 ART SHOWS THAT HIGHLIGHTED LOCAL AND REGIONAL ARTISTS. ART SHOWS OPEN EVERY FIRST FRIDAY MARCH THROUGH DECEMBER WITH LIVE MUSIC AND REFRESHMENTS AND A RECEIPTION FOR THE ARTISTS. WE ORGANIZED SEVERAL ART CLASSESS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS THIS YEAR, INCLUDING LANDSCAPE PAINTING, PLEEIN AIR PAINTING, ECO-PAINTING, CYANOTYPE PRINTNG, CLASSES IN GLASS AND CERAMIC MOSAIC, SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING FOR ARTISTS, ACRYLIC PAINT POURING, A SUMMER CAMP FOR CHILDREN AND MORE. CLASES HAVE BEEN FULL AND RECEIVED EXCELLENT REPORTS ON ANONYMOUS SURVEYS. IN ADDITION, WE ORGANIZED THE LONG JOURNEY HOME FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE JOHNSON COUNTY'S HERITAGE ARTS AND MUSIC AND COMMISSIONED A LIFE-SIZE BRONZE SCULPTURE THAT WAS UNVEILED DURING THE FESITVAL. WE HOST SUMMER MOUNTAIN MUCIS JAMS ON OUR ICKIN' POURCH AND A JAM SESSION FOR CHILREN EVERY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. WE ALSO OPERATE A GALLERY ONSITE WHERE LOCAL ARTISTS CAN SELL THEIR WARES AND PRODUCE BI-WEKLY E-NEWSLETTERS AND A PRINT NEWSLETTER TWICE A YEAR THAT INFORMS THE COMMUNITY OF HAPPENINGS IN OUR ARTS COMMUNITY.
