CRYPTO AGAINST COVID: IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING PPE AID TO SAFEGUARD DOCTORS AND HEALTHCARE WORKERS WITH ESSENTIAL PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT CRYOGENIC LIQUID OXYGEN TANKS WERE PROVIDED TO INDIA. BINANCE CHARITY WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA TO PROVIDE THE SHIPMENT OF LIFE-SAVING OXYGEN, WHICH HELPED THOUSANDS IN NEED.
RIPPLE FOR FINANCIAL INCLUSION: BINANCE CHARITY TEAMS UP WITH CARE AND UC BERKELEY TO DRIVE FORWARD FINANCIAL INCLUSION EFFORTS. WE KNOW CONNECTIVITY, EDUCATION AND ACCESS TO CRYPTO INFRASTRUCTURE IS STILL A BARRIER FOR MANY PEOPLE WHO COULD BENEFIT GREATLY FROM THE ADOPTION OF CRYPTOCURRENCY. THROUGH OUR LATEST PROJECT WITH CARE WE'RE SUPPORTING POVERTY STRICKEN COMMUNITIES IN KENYA, WHO FACE EVEN MORE ADVERSITY AS A RESULT OF COVID-19. MILLIONS OF WOMEN AND MEN ACROSS AFRICA PARTICIPATE IN SAVINGS GROUPS CONSISTING OF THEIR LIFELONG SAVINGS AND HELPING WITH LENDING, BORROWING, AND COLLECTIVE INVESTMENT. YET, THESE GROUPS RARELY HAVE FORMAL FINANCIAL SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THEM, MEANING THEIR HARD EARNED SAVINGS ARE SUBJECTED TO LOW-RETURN AND CRITICALLY, LOW SECURITY OPTIONS. THESE GROUPS ARE CALLED VILLAGE SAVINGS AND LOAN ASSOCIATIONS (VSLAS). THROUGH THESE SAVINGS GROUPS, WE'RE EMPOWERING VULNERABLE PEOPLE TO GROW OPPORTUNITIES BY OPENING CRYPTOCURRENCY WALLETS TO ESTABLISHED VSLAS AND OFFERING AN INJECTION OF CRYPTO VOUCHERS TO INVEST IN GROWING THEIR ENTERPRISES. WITH SEED FUNDING OF ALMOST $245K FOR THIS PILOT PROJECT, WE'VE HELPED MORE THAN 6,000 BROADEN THEIR HORIZONS WITH THE ADOPTION OF CRYPTO.
AUSTRALIAN BRUSHFIRES: BINANCE CHARITY COMMITS TO PLANTING 100,000 TREES TO RESTORE WILDLIFE IN AUSTRALIA. IN 2019, BUSHFIRES RAVAGED 27 MILLION ACRES IN AUSTRALIA, IMPACTING THE LIVES OF NEARLY 3 BILLION ANIMALS. THE COLLABORATIVE BLOCKCHAIN PROJECT AIMS TO BRING NEW LEVELS OF TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY TO CHARITABLE GIVING, USING TREE TOKENS, A NEW CRYPTOCURRENCY PEGGED ON A 1:1 RATIO WITH THE AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR (AUD). A PORTION OF THE INITIAL DONATIONS WILL GO TOWARDS THE KOALA CLANCY FOUNDATION TO PLANT 40,000 TREES IN THE YOU YANGS AND GIPPSLAND REGIONS IN VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA. THE REMAINING $600,000 AUD WILL BE DONATED IN LATER PHASES OF THE PROJECT. FOREST RESTORATION EFFORTS WILL HELP BRING WILDLIFE BACK TO AREAS THAT WERE BADLY DAMAGED BY THE BUSHFIRES. "WITH THE TREE TOKENS, WE WISH TO GIVE DATA ON THE RESTORATION OF KOALA HABITAT IN REGIONAL VICTORIA TO OUR DONORS TRANSPARENTLY," SAID JANINE DUFFY, PRESIDENT OF KOALA CLANCY FOUNDATION.
