COMMUNITY BUILDING & MEMBER ENGAGEMENTIT IS CRITICAL TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN OUR COMMUNITY THAT IS MULTIRACIAL, MULTIGENERATIONAL, AND SPANS THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. WITH MORE THAN 500K MEMBERS PLUS A COMMUNITY OF 3MM MEMBERS IN PANTSUIT NATION X SUPERMAJORITY, OUR FACEBOOK GROUP, WE BEGAN TO LEAN HARD INTO EDUCATION AND BENEFITS TO SUSTAIN. FIRST, WE LAUNCHED TWO NEW NEWSLETTERS ONE BIWEEKLY CONTAINING HEADLINES THAT WOMEN NEED TO BE AWARE OF AS WELL AS CALLS-TO-ACTION TO ADVOCATE FOR GENDER EQUITY. THE OTHER IS A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. SECOND, WE LAUNCHED A BOOK CLUB FEATURING WOMEN OF COLOR AUTHORS ACROSS MULTIPLE GENRES THAT ALLOWED FOR A DEEPER CONVERSATION AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE MAJORITY RULES OUR VALUES-BASED AGENDA THAT WE ORGANIZE AROUND. THIRD, WE INTRODUCED OUR MEMBERS TO SUPERMAJORITY PERKS, A BENEFIT FOR MEMBERS THAT GIVES THEM A DISCOUNT TO WOMEN OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES THAT CAN BRING THEM JOY.
TRAINING & CIVIC ENGAGEMENTSUPERMAJORITY CONTINUED TO TRAIN OUR NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP ON BASIC VOTER CONTACT SKILLS LIKE GOTV PHONE BANKING AND TEXT BANKING TO ENCOURAGE WOMEN TO VOTE WHERE OFF-CYCLE ELECTIONS TOOK PLACE. WITHIN OR BROADER GOTV WORK, SUPERMAJORITY RAN A PILOT PROGRAM IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA, CALLED DEEP CONVERSATIONS, DESIGNED TO TRAIN WOMEN FROM ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON THE SKILLS NEEDED TO HAVE VALUES-BASED CONVERSIONS WITH VOTERS. WE PARTNERED WITH LEADING EXPERTS TO DEVELOP A THREE-DAY CURRICULUM AND THEN PUT OUR SKILLS TO THE TEST CALLING ON LOW PROPENSITY VOTERS IN VIRGINIA DURING THE 2021 ELECTION CYCLE. THE CURRICULUM INCLUDED DIGITAL GUIDES FOR ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING (LIKE TOOLKITS), LIVE TWO-HOUR INSTRUCTOR-LED SESSIONS, AND HANDS-ON STAFF COACHING.
RESEARCH & EDUCATIONAT THE OUTSET OF 2021 THERE WERE TWO THINGS THE COUNTRY WAS MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO DISTRIBUTION OF THE VACCINE FOR COVID-19 AND HELPING FAMILIES RECOVER FROM THE PANDEMIC THROUGH REAL MEANINGFUL INVESTMENT IN THE CARE ECONOMY. PRIMARILY THROUGH OUR FACEBOOK COMMUNITY, SUPERMAJORITY WORKED TO BRING EXPERTS TO OUR COMMUNITY TO ALLEVIATE CONCERNS ABOUT THE VACCINE AND ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO GET THEIR SHOT. AS THE COVID-19 VACCINE WAS APPROVED AND THEN DISTRIBUTED TO MORE AND MORE COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, OUR COMMUNITY WAS THE PLACE TO GET RELIABLE INFORMATION. WITH OUR MEMBERSHIP, WE FOCUSED ON MOBILIZING OUR PEOPLE TO DEMAND THAT THE CARE ECONOMY BE PRIORITIZED IN THE BUDGET BILLS. THIS MEANT EDUCATING OUR MEMBERS ON WHAT WAS IN THESE PACKAGES, ENCOURAGING THEM TO CALL THEIR LEGISLATORS AND DEMAND CARE WAS PRIORITIZED, AND EVEN SHOWING UP AT TOWN HALLS DURING RECESS TO MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD.
