CONSTRUCTING MARKETS FOR TRANSITIONING TO AN AGROECOLOGICAL FOOD SYSTEM ISLAND REACH IS COLLABORATING IN A YEAR-LONG PROJECT WITH THE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION UNITED PURPOSE BANGLADESH (UPB). TOGETHER, WE ARE CO-FUNDING AND HELPING ROLL OUT AN INITIATIVE THAT SUPPORTS A COUNTRY-WIDE NETWORK OF GRASSROOTS ENTERPRISE HUBS KNOWN AS WOMEN'S BUSINESS CENTRES (WBCS). THE FOCUS IS ON BUILDING WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS AND AGROECOLOGICAL FOOD SYSTEMS THAT HELP THEIR COMMUNITIES ADAPT TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND TO ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRESSURES FROM INDUSTRIAL AGRICULTURE. AS PART OF THIS PROJECT, IR IS DEVELOPING A NEW MODEL AND TOOLKIT FOR HELPING FARMERS AND ENTREPENEURS CONSTRUCT MARKETS FOR AGROECOLOGICAL PRODUCTS. THIS PROJECT WILL BEGIN WITH A TRIAL OF 10-15 WBCS AND THEN SCALE TO THE NETWORK OF OVER 450 WOMEN'S BUSINESS CENTERS AND SUB-CENTERS, WHICH IN TURN REACH A NETWORK OF APPROXIMATELY 450,000 WOMEN PRODUCERS ACROSS MORE THAN 10 DISTRICTS AND SERVING A POPULATIO


IMMUTO (CHANGE) -EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTARY OUTREACH ONGOING EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH FOR IR'S AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY ON THE CLIMATE CRISIS AND GRASSROOTS ACTIVISM, IMMUTO (CHANGE) 2020. THIS YEAR, WE TOOK THE FILM TO COP 26, THE CONFERENCE OF PARTIES OF THE UNFCCC IN GLASGOW SCOTLAND AND WE PRESENTED THE FILM WITH Q&A TO A LIVE AUDIENCE AS PART OF THE PEOPLE'S SUMMIT. WE WERE JOINED BY FILM INTERVIEWEE SHIRLEEN CHIN, AND PACIFIC CLIMATE ACTIVIST KATO EWEKIA WITH SAVING TUVALU. IN ADDITION, THE FILM WAS SELECTED FOR THREE MORE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVALS AND VIEWED BY AUDIENCES WORLDWIDE. AS PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL CHANGE FILM FESTIVAL, IR WAS INVITED TO JOIN A LIVE Q&A WITH FILMMAKERS WHOSE WORK FOCUSED ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL STABILITY THEMES. FINALLY, WE WERE INTERVIEWED AND IMMUTO WAS FEATURED IN AN ARTICLE TITLED "HOW DEVELOPMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE ARE IMPACTING LIFESTYLES, CULTURAL DIVERSITY: FIVE FILMS THAT TELL THE STORY," APPEARING IN FIRSTPOST,


COLLABORATION WITH PACIFIC ISLANDS CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK IR PRODUCED A SHORT VIDEO OF PACIFIC YOUTH CLIMATE LEADERS PRESENTING THE TOP 7 DEMANDS THEY WERE BRINGING TO THE CLIMATE TALKS IN GLASGOW. THE FILM WAS SCREENED ACROSS THE PACIFIC REGION AND AT COP26 BY PACIFIC YOUTH LEADERS AND IR HELPED FACILITATE ITS SCREENING ACROSS GLASGOW DURING THE CONFERENCE. PUBLISHING AT THE INVITATION OF ARKBOUND FOUNDATION IN THE UK WE CONTRIBUTED A CHAPTER TO A BOOK ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ACTIVISM. CHAPTER TITLE: STORIES FROM THE BLUE CONTINENT: WOMEN ACTIVISTS, ALLIES, AND RADICAL DIFFERENCE, EXPLORING PACIFIC WOMEN'S CLIMATE ACTIVISM. THE BOOK, CLIMATE ADAPTATION: ACCOUNTS OF RESILIENCE, SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND SYSTEMS CHANGE WAS PUBLISHED IN SEPTEMBER 2021, AHEAD OF COP26. AS PART OF PROMOTING THE BOOK IN THE UK, LAND EADING UP TO COP26, IR'S DIRECTOR JANIS JOINED A WEBINAR PANEL WITH FELLOW AUTHORS TO DISCUSS THE TOPIC (GLOBAL REACH)
