THE VANDENBERG COALITION (TVC) IS A NETWORK OF FOREIGN POLICY LEADERS, BOTH EXPERTS AND PRACTITIONERS, ADVANCING THE POSITION THAT THE NATIONAL SECURITY, PROSPERITY, AND FREEDOM OF THE UNITED STATES REQUIRE A ROBUST AND PRINCIPLED FOREIGN POLICY.

IN 2022, THE VANDENBERG COALITION PRIORITIZED SIX KEY AREAS - UKRAINE, CHINA, IRAN, HOMELAND SECURITY, CYBER AND TECHNOLOGY, AND TRADE AND INVESTMENT - AND INCREASED OUR EDUCATIONAL REACH.WE EXPANDED OUR COALITION, WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS TO OUR GOVERNANCE BOARD AND EXPERT HUB AS WELL AS TWO NEW HIRES, AND LAUNCHED OUR FIRST SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM, WHERE TWO OF OUR INTERNS SUBSEQUENTLY RECEIVED AND ACCEPTED JOB OFFERS IN WASHINGTON DC DESPITE NO PREVIOUS CONNECTION. ADDITIONALLY, WE CREATED A DATABASE OF OVER 150 YOUNG PROFESSIONALS THAT ARE INVITED TO OUR EVENTS, SHARED WITH PARTNER INSTITUTIONS, AND WITH WHOM WE WORK TO TRY TO FIND JOB PLACEMENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES.WE CONTINUED TO SHARE OUR EDUCATIONAL ONE-PAGERS AND RAPID RESPONSES, SENDING UPDATES TO OUR AUDIENCE ON CCP ESPIONAGE, THE NATIONAL SECURITY STRATEGY, UKRAINE AID, A POTENTIAL IRANIAN NUCLEAR DEAL, NATO SUMMIT DEVELOPMENTS, CHINESE INVESTMENTS, AND BIDEN'S 2023 DEFENSE BUDGET, AMONG OTHER ISSUE AREAS. WE ALSO HOSTED IN PERSON BRIEFINGS AND ESTABLISHED QUARTERLY, CASUAL HAPPY HOURS TO FOSTER PARTNERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION. IN FEBRUARY OF 2022, WE RELEASED A PUBLIC REPORT OFFERING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR U.S. POLICY IN AFGHANISTAN IN THE WAKE OF THE WITHDRAWAL.WE ALSO PUBLICLY RELEASED A DOCUMENT OUTLINING CONSENSUS CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES OF TRADE AND INVESTMENT, RESULTING FROM SEVERAL WEEKS OF CONSULTATIONS AMONG THE SENIOR MOST STAFF AT USTR AND THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC COUNCIL.WITH INPUT FROM OUR ADVISORY BOARD, WE DEVELOPED A 32-PAGE EDUCATIONAL PRIMER FOR NEWLY ELECTED MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO EDUCATE AND PROVIDE BACKGROUND ON SEVENTEEN KEY FOREIGN POLICY AND NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUES RANGING FROM TRADE WITH CHINA TO BORDER SECURITY TO RUSSIA'S WAR AGAINST UKRAINE.
