SUPPORT BEAR VALLEY USD STUDENTS BY PROVIDING SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDS FOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND CREATING ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY

THE MAPLE HILL FIELDS PROJECT WAS ABANDONED AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF TWO SPECIES OF ENDANGERED PLANTS ON THE SITE. THIS AREA WILL NOW BE SET ASIDE AND PROTECTED AS PEBBLE PLAIN HABITAT. THE BALDWIN LANE FIELDS PLAN WAS REDESIGNED AND EXPANDED INTO THE FOUNDATION PROPERTY. NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE BVUSD ARE UNDERWAY TO TRANSFER THE NEEDED ADDITIONAL LAND TO THE DISTRICT AND LEASE THE EXPANDED PARCEL BACK TO THE FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FIELDS.
THE ELEMENTARY TRAIL WAS REROUTED AROUND THE REVISED FIELDS AREA AND SEVERAL DAYS OF TRAIL MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED BY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION VOLUNTEERS. A SMALL YOUTH PUMP TRACK FOR MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAINING WAS CONSTRUCTED ON THE FOUNDATIONS PROPERTY NEAR THE CORNER OF SHORE DR. AND BIG BEAR BLVD BY A GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS.
ALL WORK ON THE AQUATIC CENTER PROJECT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL A FUNDING SOURCE CAN BE IDENTIFIED. NO FURTHER WORK IS ANTICIPATED UNLESS A LEAD DONOR COMES TO US WITH SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO RESTART THE PROJECT.
