INDEPENDENT AND NONPARTISAN, WE ARE AN INVITATIONAL MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION AND THINK TANK, SERVING AS A CENTER OF GRAVITY AND INCUBATOR OF POLICY AND LEADERSHIP FOR THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE FIELD. TASK FORCES: DURING 2021, THE COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE FACILITATED EXPERT TASK FORCES ON CRITICAL ISSUES IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE POLICY: THE TASK FORCE ON POLICING AND THE VIOLENT CRIME WORKING GROUP. WORK WAS ALSO INITIATED ON THE LONG SENTENCES TASK FORCE, VETERANS JUSTICE COMMISSION, AND HEALTH & REENTRY PROJECT, WHILE DISTRIBUTION CONTINUED ON THE COUNCILS NATIONAL COMMISSION ON COVID-19 AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND THE FEDERAL PRIORITIES TASK FORCE.
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP: THE COUNCIL NOMINATED, VETTED, AND ELECTED NEW MEMBERS IN 2021, GROWING ITS DIVERSE GROUP OF LEADERS, THINKERS, AND INFLUENCERS FROM ACROSS THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE FIELD.
