Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
EAT. LEARN. PLAY (ELP) FOUNDATION WAS FORMED PRIMARILY TO PROVIDE GRANT FUNDING AND OTHER SUPPORT TO TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS, WITH A PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON THOSE ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING A POSITIVE IMPACT FOR LOW-INCOME CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THE AREAS OF: (I) HUNGER AND NUTRITION, (II) EXPANDED OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES IN EDUCATION, AND (III) SAFE PLACES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. DURING 2021, ELP ACHIEVED ITS MISSION THROUGH FOCUSED ACTIVITIES. THOSE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE PROVIDING GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA FOCUSED ON YOUTH DEVELOPMENT IN NUTRITION, EDUCATION AND PLAY ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS PROVIDING OVER SIX MILLION NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO FOOD-INSECURE CHILDREN, DISTRIBUTION OF 66,000 BOOKS TO CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE OAKLAND AREA, BUILDING PLAYGROUNDS FOR TWO OAKLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND PROVIDING THE ABILITY FOR OVER 2,000 CHILDREN TO ATTEND SUMMER CAMPS.
IN 2021 ELP LAUNCHED A NOVEL MOBILE BUS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY, BRINGING NUTRITIOUS FOOD, A CHILDREN'S LIBRARY AND POP-UP PLAYGROUND FOR KIDS IN THE FORM OF A HIGHLY MODIFIED AND DECORATED SCHOOL BUS. A CHILDREN'S GOLF PROGRAM WAS ALSO INITIATED IN 2021 WITH 1,200 ELP CHILDREN'S GOLF CLUBS DISTRIBUTED WITH ACCOMPANYING LESSONS. ANOTHER MAJOR PROGRAM OF ELP WAS ITS 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS WITH THE CURRYS IN WHICH OVER 1,600 CHILDREN AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE THE HOLIDAYS IN A JOYOUS SETTING COMPLETE WITH DELICIOUS FOOD, GAMES, BOOK GIVEAWAYS, GIFTS, AS WELL AS NEW GRANT FUNDING FOR OUR NON-PROFIT PARTNERS.
