THE APPLIED BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE INSTITUTE (AKA ABS INSTITUTE) IS FORMED TO PROMOTE AND PERFORM BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH INVOLVING BIOLOGICAL MECHANISMS OF DISEASE PATHOGENESIS AND RESOLUTION. THE INSTITUTE WILL PERFORM BASIC AND TRANSLATIONAL BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH, INCLUDING MOLECULAR, GENETIC, CELLULAR, AND PHYSIOLOGICAL STUDIES, AND PUBLISHES ITS RESULTS IN PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE PEER REVIEWED PUBLICATIONS, AS WELL AS PRESENTATIONS AT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES. THE INSTITUTE PROMOTES THERAPEUTIC TRANSLATION THROUGH INTERNAL RESEARCH, COLLABORATIONS, OR LICENSING ACTIVITIES OF ITS RESEARCH FINDINGS OR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. THE INSTITUTE TRAINS EARLY STAGE RESEARCHERS IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH THROUGH POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS.
