Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE MAJORITY OF THE YEAR WAS SPENT MONITORING THE COVID-RELATED CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS ON IN-PERSON PERFORMING VENUES AND EVENTS AND WAITING FOR A TIMETABLE FOR THE RETURN TO PRODUCTIONS. WE DID NOT PRODUCE ANY FULL-LENGTH, IN-PERSON PRODUCTIONS IN 2021 BUT WE DID WORKSHOP THE FINAL THREE PLAYS IN OUR FOREWORD: A NEW WORKS SERIES AND PARTNER WITH CATF AS A SATELLITE VIEWING LOCATION FOR THEIR SUMMER READINGS. WE WERE NOTIFIED IN AUGUST THAT THE ATLAS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER WOULD BE OFFERING RENTALS TO US AGAIN IN 2022 AND WE CONTRACTED TO RENT LAB II FOR PRODUCTIONS IN JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2022 AND APRIL/MAY 2022. AFTER SECURING THE VENUE, WE WERE ABLE TO BEGIN PLANS FOR THOSE PRODUCTIONS INCLUDING SECURING RIGHTS, PRODUCTION TEAMS, AND CASTS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PROLOGUE THEATRE DID NOT PRODUCE ANY FULL-LENGTH, IN-PERSON PRODUCTIONS IN 2021 BUT WE DID WORKSHOP THE FINAL THREE PLAYS IN OUR FOREWORD: A NEW WORKS SERIES AND PARTNER WITH CATF AS A SATELLITE VIEWING LOCATION FOR THEIR SUMMER READINGS. WE WERE ABLE TO HOST A SMALL GROUP OF AUDIENCE MEMBERS AT OUR REHEARSAL SPACE TO WATCH THE VIRTUAL READING, AND THEN HAVE OUR OWN CONVERSATION ABOUT THE PIECE. WE PARTICIPATED IN A PROGRAM FACILITATED BY THEATREWASHINGTON THAT INCLUDED OTHER LOCAL THEATRES TO WORK THROUGH SEVERAL MONTHS OF ANTI-RACISM PROGRAMMING TO EXAMINE ON OWN INTERNAL PRACTICES, PROGRAMS, VALUES, AND COMMUNITY INTERACTIONS THROUGH AN ANTI-RACISM LENS. AT THE END OF THE YEAR, WE ENGAGED UPROAR COACHING TO FACILITATE A WORKSHOP SESSION THAT INCLUDED BOARD MEMBERS, ARTISTS WORKING WITH US IN 2022, AND REGULAR AUDIENCE MEMBERS/DONORS TO DISCUSS WITH US AND BRAINSTORM WAYS THAT WE COULD ATTEMPT TO ENHANCE OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CONVERSATIONS AS WE MOVE BACK INTO IN-PERSON WORK IN THE NEW YEAR.
