OVER THREE DECADES, WITH THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE CONTRIBUTING THEIR TALENTS TO MAKING THE MEMORIAL PANELS AND TENS OF THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS THAT HAVE HELPED TO DISPLAY IT AROUND THE COUNTRY, THE QUILT IS CONSIDERED THE LARGEST COMMUNITY ARTS PROJECT IN HISTORY.
OUR ANNUAL WORLD AIDS DAY NATIONAL OBSERVANCE, ENGAGING POLICYMAKERS, CELEBRITIES, AND IMPORTANT CONSTITUENCIES, IS HELD IN THE GROVE AND STREAMED TO A NATIONAL AUDIENCE, INFORMING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ABOUT THE STATE OF HIV/AIDS TODAY, AND THE ISSUES OF STIGMA, HEALTH EQUITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND INCLUSION STILL FACED IN THE FIGHT FOR A CURE. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE AWARDED IN EXCESS OF $500,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO OVER 125 EMERGING YOUNG LEADERS DEDICATED TO ADVANCING HEALTH, RACIAL, AND SOCIAL JUSTICE EFFORTS THROUGH OUR YOUTH ACTIVISM AWARDS PROGRAMS WHICH CULMINATE ON WORLD AIDS DAY. THE SURVIVING VOICES ORAL HISTORY PROGRAM CAPTURES NUMEROUS STORIES FROM COMMUNITIES AND DEMOGRAPHICS UNDERREPRESENTED IN PUBLIC DISCOURSE ABOUT HIV/AIDS TO ENSURE THEY ARE CAPTURED, CURATED, AND RETAINED TO BENEFIT CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS. EVERY YEAR, A DEMOGRAPHIC-SPECIFIC SERIES OF INTERVIEWS AND MINI DOCUMENTARIES ARE RELEASED ON WORLD AIDS DAY, REACHING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE NATIONALLY THROUGH IN-PERSON EVENTS, FILM FESTIVALS AND ONLINE PROGRAMMING.
