Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
ISSACHAR'S TWO MAIN MISSIONS INCLUDE EQUIPPING AND CONVENING URBAN CHRISTIAN LEADERS FOR AN URBANIZING WORLD. A LARGE FOCUS OF THE ISSACHAR CENTER IS TO PREPARE CULTURALLY DIVERSE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS FOR LIFELONG LEADERSHIP IN URBAN COMMUNITIES THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ADULTS. NON-RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS ALSO EXIST TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP AND PEER ADVISORY GROUPS FOR THOSE EXISTING PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE RISING URBAN CHRISTIAN LEADERS AND THOSE WHO ARE DISCOVERING THEIR CAREER PATHWAYS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
ISSACHAR CENTER'S CONVENE PROGRAM CONNECTS URBAN CHRISTIAN LEADERS WITH BEST PRACTICES, DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES, AND ONE ANOTHER THROUGH THREE MAIN CHANNELS. SEASONED URBAN CHRISTIAN LEADERS PUT ON "TOWN HALLS" WHICH ARE MONTHLY SESSIONS IN VARIOUS TOPICS FOR THE ENTIRE ISSACHAR COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, HIGH IMPACT URBAN LEADERS IN VARIOUS PROFESSIONS HOLD SMALL-GROUP GATHERINGS KNOWN AS "COMMON TABLES" TO CONNECT AND LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER WITH COMMON INTERESTS AND EXPERIENCES. THE THIRD CHANNEL IS THROUGH THE URBAN ENTRY OFFERING WHERE CHRISTIAN LEADERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN WHITE COMMUNITIES, LEARN HOW TO EFFECTIVELY ENGAGE AN URBANIZING WORLD THROUGH CO-FACILITATION,INTRODUCTION OF LEADERS, AND LEADERS WHOSE ORGANIZATIONS ARE COMMITTED TO EFFECTIVELY ENGAGE IN AN URBANIZING WORLD.
ISSACHAR CENTER EQUIPS LEADERS WHO DESIRE TO MAKE AN URBAN IMPACT. A LARGE PART OF THE PROGRAM SERVICE IS THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM THAT BENEFITS INDIVIDUALS IN 2 WAYS: A MONTHLY STIPEND OF $1,100 IS PAID DIRECTLY TO THE THE STUDENT AND TUITION SUPPORT OF UP TO $6,000 PER YEAR IS PAID DIRECTLY TO THE SCHOOL. UP TO 12 STUDENTS ARE ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM EVERY 2 YEARS. IN ADDITION, STUDENTS AND RESIDENT ASSISTANT STAFF LIVE ONSITE AT THE ISSACHAR CENTER IN RESIDENTIAL APARTMENTS TO COMPLETE A 10 MONTH INTENSIVE PROGRAM. AS OF 6/30/2021 ISSACHAR HAD 5 FULL TIME APPRENTICES.OTHER CAREER PATHWAY PROGRAMS INCLUDE EITHER A 12 WEEK OR 4 WEEK PROGRAM ASSISTING YOUNG ADULTS IN MAKING HIGH QUALITY AND SUCCESSFUL DECISIONS IN WORK, FAITH, FINANCES AND COLLEGE. 30 CAREER PROFESSIONALS WERE SERVED IN THIS PROGRAM.
