INCREASING AWARENESS OF THE SYMPTOMS OF OVARIAN CANCER THROUGH HEALTH FAIRS, DELIVERING INFORMATION MATERIAL TO PUBLIC LOCATIONS AND PROVIDING EDUCATION THROUGH THE SURVIVORS TEACHING STUDENTS PROGRAM. THE ORGANIZATION DISTRIBUTED OVER 1,000 SYMPTOM CARDS AT VARIOUS EVENTS AND VENUES.
OCAGC FUNDED MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS TO PROMOTE WELLNESS FOR CANCER PATIENTS. IN ADDITION THE GROUP PROVIDED DOZENS OF COMFORT BASKETS AND MENTOR SUPPORT TO NEWLY DIAGNOSED WOMEN. THE ORGANIZATION FUNDED AND PARTICIPATED IN THE INAUGURAL WOMAN TO WOMAN PROGRAM THROUGH THE CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY THAT PAIRS GYNECOLOGIC CANCER PATIENTS WITH TRAINED SURVIVOR VOLUNTEERS WHO PROVIDE ONE ON ONE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND MENTORING TO WOMEN. HOSTED SURVIVOR TEACHING STUDENT PROGRAMS WITH MEDIAL STUDETNS AT LOCAL HOSPITALS
DONATIONS FOR RESEARCH ARE MADE TO TOP TIER ORGANIZATIONS THAT SELECT THE MOST PROMISING AREAS TO PURSUE IN EARLY DETECTION, TREATMENT AND FINDING A CURE FOR OVARIAN CANCER. WE SEEK RESEARCH EFFORTS WHERE NOT MORE THAN 5% OF THE DONATION GOES TO ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS. OUR RESEARCH COMMITTEE IS COMPRISED OF SOME OF THE TOP LOCAL PROFESSIONALS FOCUSED ON GYNECOLOGIC CANCERS. IN 2021 THE ORGANIZIATION CONTINUED TO FUND PROMISING RESEARCH INTO DEVELOPMENT OF IMMUNOTHERAPY FOR THE TREATMENT OF OVARIAN CANCER. THE ORGANIZATION MADE 150,000 IN GRANTS FOR RESEARCH DIRECTLY RELATED TO OUR MISSION.
