Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
HERITAGE ACRES MEMORIAL SANCTUARY IS A DEDICATED NATURAL BURIAL GROUND. OUR COMMITMENT TO CREATING A NATURE PRESERVE WHERE PEOPLE MAY BE LAID TO REST NATURALLY, CALLS US TO COMPASSION BOTH FOR THE EARTH, AND FOR OUR FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2021 WE PERFORMED 17 BURIALS AND SOLD A TOTAL OF 57 RIGHTS TO BE BURIED (THE LATTER BROUGHT OUR TOTAL OF PRE-ARRANGED BURIAL RIGHTS AT THE END OF THE YEAR TO 127). THIS GROWTH IS LIKELY BECAUSE WE BECAME MUCH MORE VISIBLE DURING THE YEAR, WITH MEDIA COVERAGE, OCCASIONAL PLANNED ADVERTISING, AND PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL EVENTS.
WITH THE INCREASE IN BUSINESS CAME THE HIRING OF OUR FIRST EMPLOYEES A PART-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, AND NOT ONE BUT TWO PART-TIME LAND STEWARDS (WHO USUALLY WORK ON DIFFERENT DAYS OF THE WEEK, PROVIDING MORE CONSISTENT COVERAGE AND PRESENCE AT THE SANCTUARY). THE HIRING OF EMPLOYEES ALSO NECESSITATED ENTERING INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH GUSTO, A PAYROLL COMPANY THAT SERVES SMALL BUSINESSES, TO HANDLE OUR PAYROLL.
TO CELEBRATE EARTH DAY 2021, WE HOSTED AN OPEN HOUSE THAT WAS VERY WELL ATTENDED BY THE PUBLIC. IN COORDINATION WITH THE EVENT, WE INVITED LOCAL ARTISTS TO CREATE NATURAL ART WITH FOUND NATURAL OBJECTS IN THE LANDSCAPE.
