MINNESOTA TRAINING PARTNERSHIP, INC. WILL PROVIDE TRAINING SERVICES TO EMPLOYED AND UNEMPLOYED WORKERS IN THE STATE OF MN. THE AUDIENCE WILL INCLUDE INCUMBENT WORKERS UPGRADING THEIR SKILLS, YOUTH OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, RE-ENTERING WORKFORCE,UNDER-SERVED COMMUNITIES OF COLOR.

TRAINING CONSISTS OF A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES CUSTOMIZED TO THE INDUSTRY AND THE NEEDS OF THE WORKFORCE AND EMPLOYERS. TYPES OF TRAINING INCLUDES ESTABLISHMENT OF APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS WITHIN A SPECIFIC INDUSTRY OR COMPANY, JOB READINESS, LIFE SKILLS AND SAFETY. LENGTH OF TRAINING RANGES FROM ONE WEEK TO 18 MONTHS, DEPENDING ON TYPE AND SUBJECT. FIRST SECTORS WHERE SERVICES ARE BEING PROVIDED ARE MANUFACTURING AND HOSPITALITY AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM FOR INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING TECHNICIANS WITH TRAINING CONDUCTED IN SPECIFIC WORKPLACES FOR INCUMBENT WORKERS. THE EMPLOYER AND LABOR UNION (IF THERE IS ONE) AUTHORIZE THE TRAINING AND ARE INVOLVED IN ITS PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION. IN HOSPITALITY, SERVICES ARE BEING FOCUSED ON PROVIDING PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRAINING TO INTERESTED WORKERS WITH THE GOAL OF PLACING PEOPLE IN HOSPITALITY JOBS. THESE PROGRAMS FILL AN UNMET NEED, INCLUDING DEVELOPMENT OF NEW OR INNOVATIVE TRAINING AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS.
