SPEECH FIRST DEFENDS STUDENTS' FREE SPEECH RIGHTS ON CAMPUS THROUGH LITIGATION, ADVOCACY, AND EDUCATION. IN FY22, SPEECH FIRST FILED A FEDERAL LAWSUIT AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON ON BEHALF OF ITS STUDENT MEMBERS ALLEGING ITS POLICIES VIOLATED STUDENTS' FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS THROUGH OVERBROAD, VAGUE POLICIES DESIGNED TO CHILL STUDENT SPEECH AND EXPRESSION. SPEECH FIRST WON THIS LAWSUIT IN THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT COURT OF TEXAS, HOUSTON DIVISION.SPEECH FIRST ALSO WON ITS CASE AGASINT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA IN THE ELEVENTH CIRCUIT'S U.S. COURT OF APPEALS.SPEECH FIRST SUBMITTED ADDITIONAL PUBLIC COMMENTS TO THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION REGARDING ITS NEWLY PROPOSED TITLE IX RULES.
