THE FOOD PANTRY IS AVAILABLE TO RESIDENTS IN NEED OF FOOD. CLIENTS ARE ABLE TO SHOP FOR THEIR GROCERIES AND CHOOSE WHAT THEY NEED AND WILL USE. DAYTIME AND EVENING HOURS ARE AVAILABLE FOR FAMILIES IN NEED. SPECIAL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED DURING HOLIDAYS AS WELL AS EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES FOR CRISIS SITUATIONS. THIS SERVICE HELPS THOSE IN CRISIS MEETING CERTAIN CRITERIA AND STILL ATTEMPTS TO REINFORCE A SELF ESTEEM OF INDEPENDENCE AT THE SAME TIME.
GENERAL ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS FOR QUALIFYING COLLINSVILLE RESIDENTS ONLY.
THE COLLINSVILLE FOOD PANTRY PROVIDES SELECTED CHILDREN IN THE COLLINSVILLE UNIT 10 SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH FOOD EVERY WEEKEND TO TAKE HOME IN A TOTE BAG AND HAVE A MEAL WHEN THEY ARE NOT IN SCHOOL. DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS A TOTE BAG OF FOOD IS ALSO PROVIDED TO SELECTED CHILDREN IN THE SUMMER PROGRAM AT ST. JOHN EUCC.
THE SOUP KITCHEN SERVES A HOT MEAL EVERY TUESDAY AT FIRST UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND THE LAST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. MEALS ARE ALSO SERVED EVERY THURSDAY AT ST. JOHNS UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST. THERE IS NO COST AND NO REQUIREMENTS. THE PROGRAM ALLOWS RECIPIENTS TO ENJOY A FREE MEAL AND FELLOWSHIP.
