Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
WITH THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF ITS TRAINING FACILITY IN SEPTEMBER 2021, BUBA WAS ABLE TO DEVELOP AND INTRODUCE VARIOUS TRAINING PROGRAMS IN THE REMAINING MONTHIS OF THE YEAR. THROUGH THE USE OF VIRTUAGYM, A CLOUD-BASED MEMBERSHIP MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM RESULT WAS TABULATED: 40 PROGRAMS, 313 SESSIONS, 2,050 YOUTH PARTICIPANTS ATTANDING FOR 4,083 HOURS. IN ADDITION, BUBA PROVIDED EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE TRAINING FACILITY TO BASEBALL GROUPS AND COLLEGE TEAMS. YOUTH WHO RESIDE IN THE CITY OF BALTIMORE ATTEND ANY TRAINING SESSION WITH NO FEE CHARGED, WHILE YOUTH WHO RESIDE IN THE SUBURBS AND EXURBS ARE CHARGED "INSTRUCTION FEES".
BECAUSE THE TRAINING FACILITY WAS NOT AVAILABLE, BUBA WAS FORCED TO LEASE SPACE AT AN INDEPENDENT ARENA TO CONDUCT WINTER TRAINING DURING JAN-FEB 2021. BASES, LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE CITY IN LINTHICUM, MD, IS 6.1 MILES SOUTH OF THE TRAINING CENTER,AND BUBA HELPED YOUTH FIND TRANSPORTATION. AT BASES, BUBA CONDUCTED 16 SESSIONS WHICH WERE 2 & 3 HOURS AND HAD YOUTH ATTENDANCE RANGING FROM 8 TO 25 ATHLETES, WITH THE AVERAGE ATTENDANCE BEING 14. THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT, FREE WINTER TRAINING PROGRAM FOR CITY YOUTH 14-18 DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THEIR SKILLS DURING THE OFFSEASON. (NO OCCUPANCY COSTS ARE REPORTED FOR THIS PROGRAM EXCEPT THE $3,200 RENTAL FEE FOR THE ARENA.)
BECAUSE THE 20,000 SF WAREHOUSE BUILDING LEASED IN FEB 2020 DID NOT MEET CITY OCCUPANCY CODE AS A YOUTH COMMUNITY CENTER, BUBA ENTERED INTO A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN JAN. 2021 TO IMPLEMENT MANY CHANGES, INCLUDING: INSTALLING UPGRADED BATHROOMS, MAKING 2 ENTRANCES ADA COMPLIANT, INSTALLING AN EXIT PASSAGWAY THOUGH AN UNUSED AREA, REPLACING THE HVAC SYSTEM, REPAIRING THE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM, INSTALLING A SECURITY SYSTEM, RESTORING A 9-SPACE PARKINGLOT, COMPLE- TING PLUMBING & SIDEWALK REPAIRS AND PAINTING INTERIOR WALLS. IN 2021, BUBA SPENT $200,180 IN LEASEHOLD IMPROVEMENTS, FUNDED PRIMARILY WITH A $170,000 LANDLORD LOAN. BUBA HAS MADE A SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL COM- MITTMENT TO CREATE A 1ST CLASS, INNER CITY YOUTH BASEBALL CENTER.
