GENERAL PROGRAMS - THE 3RS COLLABORATIVE GENERAL PROGRAMS ADVANCE THE 3RS GENERALLY AS A CONCEPT AS WELL AS SPECIFIC 3RS TOPICS. IN 2022, THIS INCLUDES DRAFTING A 3RS CERTIFICATE COURSE, PRESENTATIONS ON HOME CAGE MONITORINGS, 8 PRESENTATIONS ON REFINED MOUSE HANDLING, AND CREATING RESOURCES ON ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH MONITORING. THESE EFFORTS HELP SCIENTISTS IMPROVE THE LIVES OF RESEARCH ANIMALS, USE FEWER OF THEM PER EXPERIMENT, AND REPLACE THEM ALTOGETHER.


OTHER PROGRAMS - COMPASSION FATIGUE, 3RS CERTIFICATE, TDB, DEVELOPMENT AND RHM.


MPS - THE 3RS MPS INITIATIVE HAS HELPED IN ADVANCING ACCEPTANCE OF MICROPHYSIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS AS A METHOD TO REFINE, REDUCE, AND REPLACE THE USE OF ANIMALS IN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN 2022. THIS PROGRAM HOSTED 9 PRESENTATIONS ON MPS IN 2022 INCLUDING SPEAKING ON REGULATORY ACCEPTANCE AND REPRESENTING THE USA AT THE MPS WORLD SUMMIT. IT ALSO MAINTAINS A USER-FRIENDLY TECHNOLOGY HUB SO THAT SCIENTISTS CAN EASILY FIND MPS THAT WILL WORK FOR THEIR RESEARCH.


COMMUNICATIONS/EDUCATION/OUTREACH - THE 3RS COMMUNCATION/EDUCATION/OUTREACH PROGRAM MAINTAINED A FREE, OPEN-ACCESS WEBSITE WITH OVER 30 RESOURCE PAGES, SENDS REGULAR NEWSLETTER EDUCATING STAKEHOLDERS ON RESOURCES/ARTICLES/WEBINARS, AND SUPPORTS CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS. THIS PROGRAM EDUCATES SCIENTISTS, VETERINARIANS, AND ANIMAL CARE STAFF ON METHODS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF RESEARCH ANIMALS, REDUCE THE NUMBERS NECESSARY FOR RESEARCH, AND REPLACE THEM WITH OTHER TECHNOLOGY.
