WTS PROMOTES THE ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EDUCATIONAL, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, NETWORKING, AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. WTS MEMBERS ENJOY THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD THEIR NETWORK THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN MONTHLY LUNCHEON PROGRAMS AND OTHER SPECIAL EVENTS. MEMBERS CAN ALSO BUILD THEIR VISIBILITY THROUGH SERVING ON OR CHAIRING COMMITTEES, SERVING ON THE BOARD, OR TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE WTS APPOINTMENTS INITIATIVE. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTS MONTHLY LUNCHEON SEMINARS ON TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TOPICS. ANNUAL MIXERS ARE HELD AS AN INFORMAL NETWORKING ENVIRONMENT TO MEET AND TALK TO OTHER TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS A FORMAL, FACILITATED MENTORSHIP PROGRAM FOR EARLY AND MID-CAREER PROFESSIONALS. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS AN UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO ASSIST WOMEN WHO ASPIRE TO CAREERS IN TRANSPORTATION. TRANSPORTATION YOU, A HANDS-ON INTERACTIVE MENTORING PROGRAM THAT OFFERS YOUNG GIRLS AGES 13-18 AN INTRODUCTION TO A WIDE VARIETY OF TRANSPORTATION CAREERS. THROUGH THE PROGRAM, WE OFFER INCREDIBLE ACTIVITIES, TOURS, AND MENTORSHIP TO YOUNG HIGH-SCHOOL AGE GIRLS TO SPARK THEIR INTEREST IN ALL MODES OF TRANSPORTATION AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO TAKE COURSES IN MATH, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY, WHICH ARE THE STEPPING STONES TO EXCITING CAREERS THAT CAN CHANGE THE FACE OF THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY.
