2021 PRESENTED EVEN MORE DIFFICULTIES WITH FUNDRAISING. WITH STAFFING ISSUES HITTING ALL INDUSTRIES, OURS WAS NO DIFFERENT. VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT PRESENTED LIMITED FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES. IN SPITE OF THAT, THERE WERE STILL BIG EFFORTS MADE AND BIG WINS. IN-RESTAURANT FUNDRAISING TOTALED OVER $638,000. FACING A SECOND YEAR WITH A VIRTUAL ANNUAL FRANCHISEE CONVENTION, FUNDRAISING EFFORTS WERE LIMITED TO OUR ANNUAL ONLINE SILENT AUCTION, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE OUR HIGHEST SILENT AUCTION TO DATE RAISING 23% MORE THAN IN 2020. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAD VENDOR PARTNERS GIVE AN ADDITIONAL $47,000 IN LIEU OF, OR IN ADDITION TO, SILENT AUCTION ITEMS. WE HAD A GREAT INITIATIVE WITH THE POPEYES BRAND THROUGH THE CELEBRATION OF OUR NEW NUGGETS BY GIVING AWAY 1 MILLION NUGGETS IN THE FORM OF GIFT CARDS. GIFT CARDS TOTALING $1 MILLION WERE DONATED TO SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK FEEDING SOUTH LOUISIANA. IN AUGUST, NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA WAS HIT WITH THE DEVASTATING HURRICANE IDA. OVERNIGHT WE WERE FLOODED WITH FAMILY FUND APPLICATIONS FROM OUR TEAM MEMBERS. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS COMING IN AND THE SPEED AT WHICH THEY WERE COMING IN, WE CALLED ON 65 BRAND TEAM MEMBERS TO SERVE AS VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST IN PROCESSING APPLICATIONS. POPEYES FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION, POPEYES INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION (PIFA), IMMEDIATELY STEPPED UP TO ASSIST BY DONATION $100,000 TO THE FOUNDATION TO HELP PROVIDE GRANTS TO OUR TEAM MEMBERS.
