THE PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO TRAIN OSTOMY NURSES AND MEDICARE HOME HEALTH CARE NURSES, INCLUDING HOSPICE NURSES, TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROCEDURES FOR USING AFTERCARE EQUIPMENT, WHICH WILL PROVIDE A HANDS-ON, EXPERIENTIAL APPROACH FOR OSTOMY SURGERY PATIENTS TO LEARN SELF-CARE. HOLD REGULARLY SCHEDULED SEMINARS AND PRESENTATIONS THAT ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO INFORM OSTOMY SURGERY PATIENTS, PRIMARY CARETAKERS, HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS, AND ANYONE INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT THE PROPER USE OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND CARE TECHNIQUES FOR OSTOMY SURGERY PATIENTS. MAINTAIN AN OVER-THE-PHONE HELP DESK, WHICH PROVIDES A REFERRAL SERVICE FOR OSTOMY SURGERY PATIENTS WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS THAT MAY BE BEST ADDRESSED BY THE AFOREMENTIONED HOSPITALS, OSTOMY NURSES, OR MEDICARE HOME HEALTH CARE NURSES.
