THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSES INCLUDE: 1) PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR FUNERAL SERVICES OR FOR TRANSPORTING THE BODY OF A MEMBER OF THE EDIR. 2) DISSEMINATING INFORMATION TO THE MEMBERS OF THE EDIR OF THE DEATH OF A MEMBER, 3) COORDINATING AND ASSIGNING THE TASKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEATH OF A MEMBER, 4) COMFORTING AND CONSOLING THOSE WHO HAVE LOST LOVED ONCE, AND 5) ENCOURAGING MEMBERS TO BE PRESENT IN THE MOURNING FOR CONSOLING THE SURVIVING FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE DECEASED MEMBER..

ETHIOEDER PROVIDED FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR FUNERAL EXPENSES, COMFORT AND CONSOLE THOSE WHO HAVE LOST LOVED ONES AND ESCORT THE FAMILY WHEN THEY TRANSPORT THEIR LOVED ONES TO THE FINAL RESTING PLACE. ETHIOEDER HAD AN AVERAGE NUMBER OF DEATHS AND BURIALS THAT PROVIDED AN AVERAGE AMOUNT OF FUNDING FOR THESE OPERATIONS.
ETHIOPIAN AMERICANS HAVE AN ELABORATE TRADITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH DEATH AND BEREAVEMENT. AS SOON AS THE DEATH NEWS IS ANNOUNCED, PEOPLE START GATHERING AT THE DECEASED HOME, COMMUNITY CENTER, OR CHURCH FACILITY TO COMFORT THE GRIEVING FAMILY. FOLLOWING THIS TRADITION, IN 2020, THE ETHIOEDIR SERVED SEVERAL DINNERS (FOOD AND DRINKS) FOR THE DECEASED FAMILIES AND FRIENDS.
IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 4.1 OF THE ETHIOEDIR BYLAWS (THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY), THE MEMBERS WOULD BE CALLED TO DISCUSS THE AFFAIRS OF THE ORGANIZATION. IN 2021 GENERAL MEETING HASN'T BEEN CALLED BECAUSE OF COVID. THERE IS NO RELATED EXPENSE .
OTHER PROGRAM EXPENSES INCLUDE: 1) BAD DEBTS EXPENSE FOR MEMBERSHIPS CANCELLED DUE TO UNPAID MEMBERSHIP FEES ($18,940.00)
