Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
2022 WAS A DIFFICULT YEAR FOR US AND THE SHELTER AND RESCUE SYSTEM AS A WHOLE. SHELTER POPULATIONS WERE AT AN ALL TIME HIGH AND RESCUES STRUGGLED BOTH TO HELP THE SHELTERS, AND TO COMPETE TO KEEP OUR OWN ADOPTIONS UP. ADOPTIONS WERE SLOW AND FOSTER HOMES WERE HARD TO COME BY. WE MANAGED TO STILL SAVE 156 DOGS AND FIND THEM WONDERFUL HOMES! FOR OUR SPAY/NEUTER SPECIAL PROJECT, WE VOLUNTEERED AT 6 MULTI-DAY CLINICS WHERE WE ASSISTED IN STERILIZING 704 DOGS AND 741 CATS TOTAL. WE FEEL STRONGLY THAT THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THE OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM SO WE FOCUS TIME AND MONEY ON THIS EVERY MONTH. OUR SECOND SPECIAL PROJECT IS KEEPING DOGS IN THEIR ORIGINAL HOMES. WE PAID FOR A PUPPY TO HAVE HIS SHATTERED LEG FIXED WHEN HIS OWNERS WERE FACED WITH RELINQUISHING HIM BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T AFFORD THE SURGERY. WE VOLUNTEERED AT 12 PET FOOD BANKS IN THE DENVER AREA - ONE A MONTH. WE DISTRIBUTED DOG AND CAT FOOD IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A HUMAN FOOD BANK TO HELP FOLKS WHO MAY NEED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN FEEDING THEMSELVES OR THEIR PETS. WE ALSO CONTINUED THE FREE WEEKLY TRAINING CLASSES FOR OUR FOSTERS AND ADOPTERS. THIS IS SUCCESSFULLY KEEPING DOGS IN THEIR ADOPTIVE HOMES AS WELL AS PREPARING FOSTER DOGS FOR ADOPTION.
