Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3

2023 HAD EVEN MORE CHALLENGES THAN PAST YEARS - ADOPTIONS WERE SLOWER THAN EVER BEFORE AND WE HAD LESS AVAILABLE FOSTER HOMES. DESPITE THESE CHALLENGES, WE STILL RESCUED 104 DOGS TO DATE, PRIMARILY FROM HIGH KILL SHELTERS AND URGENT SITUATIONS. ALL OF OUR DOGS LIVE IN OUR HOMES WITH US AND ARE LOVED LIKE OUR OWN PETS. THEY ARE ALL FULLY VETTED BEFORE BEING ADOPTED. LAST YEAR IN ADDITION TO THE ROUTINE VETTING, WE ALSO DID MULTIPLE ORTHOPEDIC SURGERIES, DENTAL EXTRACTIONS AND CLEANINGS, EXPLORATORY SURGERIES, AND URGENT LIFE SAVING PROCEDURES TO ENSURE OUR PUPS LIVE THE LONGEST HEALTHIEST LIVES THEY CAN! ONE OF OUR SPECIAL PROJECTS IS KEEPING DOGS IN THEIR HOMES. WE HAVE A POST-ADOPTION SUPPORT PROGRAM WHERE WE FOLLOW UP WITH OUR ADOPTERS PERIODICALLY TO SEE HOW THINGS ARE GOING. WE PROVIDE FREE TRAINING CLASSES WEEKLY FOR ADOPTERS TO ATTEND IN PERSON, AND ALSO HAVE VIDEOS AND OTHER TRAINING MATERIALS WE CAN SEND OUT FOR PEOPLE TO WORK ON AT HOME.WE VOLUNTEERED AT 12 PET FOOD BANKS IN THE DENVER AREA - ONE A MONTH. WE DISTRIBUTED DOG AND CAT FOOD IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A HUMAN FOOD BANK TO HELP FOLKS WHO MAY NEED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN FEEDING THEMSELVES OR THEIR PETS. WE ALSO HELP COVER VET BILLS IF A FAMILY IS FACED WITH HAVING TO RELINQUISH THEIR PET BECAUSE THEY CANT AFFORD THEIR CARE. OUR SECOND SPECIAL PROJECT IS SPAY/NEUTER. IT'S BECOMING MORE APPARENT THAN EVER THAT WE CAN'T RESCUE OURSELVES OUT OF THE OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM. WE ALSO NEED PROGRAMS THAT SLOW DOWN POPULATION GROWTH. WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT AND DEDICATED TO PROVIDING LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES TO UNDER-SERVED AREAS IN COLORADO. FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH AN AMAZING SPAY/NEUTER ALLIANCE AND HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO VOLUNTEER AT A FEW OF THE CLINICS. WE ARE HOPING TO RAMP UP OUR SPAY/NEUTER SUPPORT IN 2024 BECAUSE RESCUE AND ADOPTION ALONE IS LIKE "TRYING TO EMPTY THE OCEAN WITH A TEASPOON"!
