ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, WE PROMOTE GRASS-ROOTS EFFORTS TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY AND SUFFERING IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES, PARTICULARLY THROUGH EDUCATION AND TRAINING, WITH A FOCUS ON WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND OTHER MARGINALIZED GROUPS.

AFTER TWO YEARS OF PANDEMIC, THE HARSHEST DROUGHT IN 30 YEARS, AND DRAMATIC INCREASES TO FOOD PRICES DUE TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE, MANY FAMILIES IN THE MARRAKECH COMMUNITY IN MOROCCO NEEDED HELP SO WE DISTRIBUTED A MONTH OF FOOD STAPLES TO 700 FAMILIES. WE ALSO RE-INITIATED VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN FOOD INDUSTRY SKILLS FOR IMPOVERISHED WOMEN AND SUPPORTED TEACHER TRAINING TO EXPAND A DEAF SCHOOL.
WE CONTINUED TO FUND AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THAT SERVES ORPHANED AND DISPLACED CHILDREN, INCLUDING DAILY MEALS, A DANCE PROGRAM FOR PSYCHOSOCIAL HEALING, AND A COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAM. WE BEGAN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SECONDARY SCHOOL TO SERVE THE SAME CHILDREN. TWO REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS WERE FUNDED TO TRAIN RURAL WOMEN IN SUSTAINABLE AND ORGANIC TECHNIQUES WHICH DRAMATICALLY INCREASED THEIR YIELDS AND INCOMES.
CHILD RAPE HAS ESCALATED DRAMATICALLY IN WESTERN CAMEROON, SO WE RAN FOUR CHILD-RAPE-PREVENTION CAMPS THAT TAUGHT 200 CHILDREN HOW TO AVOID DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, PROTECT THEMSELVES WHEN THREATENED, AND CONTEND WITH THE AFTERMATH OF RAPE. 10 GIRLS-AGAINST-RAPE CLUBS WERE SET UP IN LOCAL SCHOOLS AND WERE ATTENDED BY OVER 1000 YOUNG GIRLS. WE ALSO HELD 7 WORKSHOPS FOR 400 MOTHERS TO TEACH THEM HOW TO PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN, RAN A CONFERENCE FOR ADULT SURVIVORS OF RAPE, AND FUNDED 4 PROJECTS DESIGNED AND RUN BY PARTICIPANTS TO COMBAT RAPE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
