Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
FARM EXPANSION - OUR MOST EXCITING EXPANSION THIS YEAR WAS IMPORTING A JOHN DEERE 4020 TRACTOR. THIS WAS IS MAINLY USED TO HELP PROVIDE CULTIVATION SERVICES TO LOCAL GRASS ROOTS FARMERS. PRIOR TO THIS THEY WORKED THEIR LAND BY HAND AND AS A RESULT HAD SMALLER YIELDS. WE ALSO BUILT A NEW BROODER HOUSE WHICH ALLOWS US TO RAISE UP TO 3,000 BABY CHICKENS AT A TIME. IN ADDITION WE ALSO BUILT A SILO TO HELP US STORE CORN.
FARM OPERATIONS: PRODUCTION & PROCESSING - THE NRH FARM CONTINUED TO PUSH FORWARD DESPITE MANY CHALLENGES IN HAITI. OUR FOCUS CONTINUES TO BE ON GROWING THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR AS A WHOLE. THE BIGGEST CHANGE THIS YEAR WAS BEING ABLE TO CULTIVATE OVER 150 ACRES OF LAND FOR LOCAL FARMERS THANKS TO OUR NEW TRACTOR WE IMPORTED. WE ENCOURAGED THEM TO PLANT CORN WHICH WE IN TURN PURCHASED BACK FROM THEM TO TURN INTO FEED IN OUR FEED MILL. AS ALWAYS WE GREW BUTCHERED AND DISTRIBUTED CHICKENS COWS AND PIGS TO CUSTOMERS ALL ACROSS NORTHERN HAITI.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS - OUR SOCCER PROGRAM CONTINUED THIS YEAR AND NOW HAS 120 YOUTH ENROLLED. OUR COACHES WERE TRAINED BY A LOCAL CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST IN MENTORING LEARNING STYLES AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS WITH CHILDREN. THE SKILLS THEY LEARNED DURING THIS TIME WILL HELP THEM BE BETTER LEADERS TO OUR YOUTH. THEY ALSO RECEIVED CPR AND FIRST AID TRAINING WHICH WILL HELP THEM NOT ONLY WITH INJURIES IN OUR PROGRAM BUT WITH INJURIES THAT HAPPEN IN THE VILLAGE AS WELL. THIS PROGRAM HAS HELPED THE CHILDREN DEVELOP MANY LIFE SKILLS SUCH AS TEAM WORK PERSEVERANCE AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS. WE BEGAN CONSTRUCTION ON THE SPORTS BUILDING PAVILION AND BASKETBALL COURT. WE ALSO HIRED A HAITIAN DIRECTOR TO HELP DEVELOP AND OVERSEE OUR PROGRAMS AS OUR COMMUNITY CENTER LAUNCHES.
