THE CHESTWATYR COMMISSIONS WAS CREATED AND PRODUCED BY COMPOSERS NOW WITH UNDERWRITING FROM THE CHESTWATYR FOUNDATION. THE AWARD COMMEMORATES CECE WASSERMAN AND FOREGROUNDS HER LEGACY OF EMPOWERING LIVING COMPOSERS IN SUBSTANTIVE WAYS. IN FY23 COMPOSERS NOW PRESENTED THE WORLD PREMIERE OF ALYSSA REGENT'S "THE ISLAND BEFORE OPEN WATERS" 2023 WHICH WAS PERFORMED BY THE HARLEM CHAMBER PLAYERS. BORA YOON SERVED AS COMPOSER MENTOR
DIALOGUES IS AN INNOVATIVE INITIATIVE HOSTED BY THE ORGANIZATIONS'S FOUNDER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR TANIA LEÓN. EVENTS IN THE SERIES OPEN WITH INSPIRING PERFORMANCES FOLLOWED BY THOUGHT-PROVOKING TOWN HALL-STYLE CONVERSATIONS AND A FORUM FOR MEANINGFUL EXCHANGES OF IDEAS BETWEEN COMPOSERS PERFORMANCES AND IDEAS. FY23'S DIALOGUES NO. 10 WAS LIVE FROM THE MARC SORCA HALL AT THE NATIONAL OPERA CENTER. TYSON GHOLSTON DAVIS JASON ECKARDT AND LEAHA MARIA VILLARREAL WERE THE THREE PARTICIPATING COMPOSERS.
FIRST COMMISSIONS AWARDS YOUNG COMPOSERS WITH SUPPORT AIMED AT ENCOURAGING THEIR ARTISTIC AND CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT. COMPOSERS NOW COLLABORATES WITH LUNA LAB IN THE SELECTION PROCESS. SELECTION IS NOMINATED AND REVIEWED BY A JURY. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE RECEIVES A COMPOSER NOW COMMISSION AND HAS THEIR WORK PREMIERED AT THE COMPOSERS NOW FESTIVAL OPENING EVENT. IN FY23 THE FIRST COMMISSION WAS AWARDED TO DORIAN TABB. HE WERE MENTORED BY COMPOSER AND VIOLINIST TAMAR MUSKAL.
