TO ADVANCE CONSERVATION SCIENCE AND PRACTICE, THROUGH BIENNIAL NORTH AMERICAN CONGRESS FOR CONSERVATION BIOLOGY; MEMBERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES; AND EDUCATION, POLICY, EQUITY, INCLUSION & DIVERSITY, AND CHAPTER SERVICES.

NORTH AMERICAN CONGRESS FOR CONSERVATION BIOLOGY (NACCB) - THE BIENNIAL NACCB REPRESENTS AN IMPORTANT FACET OF SCBNA'S WORK TO FOSTER COMMUNICATION AMONG CONSERVATION SCIENTISTS AND PRACTITIONERS IN NORTH AMERICA. THE GOAL OF NACCB IS TO PROVIDE A FORUM FOR PRESENTING AND DISCUSSING NEW RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENTS AND STRATEGIES THAT WILL INFORM POLICY CHANGES AND CONSERVATION PRACTICES TO ADDRESS TODAY'S CONSERVATION CHALLENGES. NACCB 2022 WAS HELD JULY 16-21 IN RENO, NEVADA AND HOSTED MULTIPLE WORKSHOPS, SHORT COURSES, INTERACTIVE SESSIONS, SYMPOSIA AND CONTRIBUTED ORAL, SPEED AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, NETWORKING, AND COLLABORATION. NACCB IS THE ORGANIZATION'S LARGEST PROGRAM PROVIDING SERVICES TO MEMBERS AND THE 2022 HYBRID CONFERENCE HAD ~600 ATTENDEES WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR BOTH VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON PARTICIPATION.
EDUCATION, POLICY, EQUITY, INCLUSION & DIVERSITY, AND CHAPTERS SERVICES - MEMBERS (1100) BENEFIT FROM SCBNA GUIDANCE AND INITIATIVES INCLUDING TRAININGS, GUIDANCE/COLLABORATION ON POLICY STATEMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS, AND OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO STRENGTHEN THE CONSERVATION SCIENCE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY AT THE LOCAL, NATIONAL AND CONTINENTAL LEVELS. IN 2022, SCBNA PLANNED FOR TRAVEL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS TO STUDENTS, CHAPTER MEMBERS AND UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS TO EASE THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF PARTICIPATING IN NACCB 2022. PLANNING FOR EDUCATION-FOCUSED ACTIVITIES INCLUDED A CO-SPONSORED CONSERVATION LITERACY EDUCATOR WORKSHOP AND INTERACTIVE SESSION SERIES WITH THE NETWORK OF CONSERVATION EDUCATORS AND PRACTITIONER, AS WELL AS A VIRTUAL ASK-AN-ACADEMIC CAREER SERIES FOR BOTH UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS IN THE FIELD OF CONSERVATION. SCBNA ALSO CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF AN ALLYSHIP VIDEO SERIES AS PART OF ITS ALLYSHIP GROUP EFFORTS. THE POLICY COMMITTEE PARTICIPATED IN DISCUSSIONS ON UPDATING THE NORTH AMERICAN MODEL FOR WILDLIFE CONSERVATION WITH SEVERAL OTHER CONSERVATION AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATIONS. ALL COMMITTEES WORKED ON PLANNING FOR EVENTS AND PROGRAMMING NACCB 2022 CONFERENCE, AS WELL AS PRELIMINARY PLANNING FOR THE 2024 CONFERENCE.
MEMBERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES - SCBNA PROVIDES A STRONG COLLECTIVE VOICE FOR THE SCIENCE AND PRACTICE OF CONSERVATION. SCBNA MAINTAINS A NEWS BLOG AND REGULAR NEWSLETTER. SCBNA SUPPORTS MEMBERS' CONSERVATION SCIENCE EFFORTS BY PROVIDING RESOURCES, EVENTS, AND OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO STRENGTHEN THE CONSERVATION SCIENCE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY AT THE LOCAL, NATIONAL AND CONTINENTAL LEVELS. SCBNA ALSO SHARES OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES WITH ITS MEMBERSHIP VIA ITS SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS.
