THE PRIMARY PROGRAM IS THE GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL FOR ENTREPRENEURS (GSE) AN ACCELERATOR-STYLED PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. OVER THREE WEEKS, TEAMS DEVELOP A BUSINESS MODEL, DESIGN A PROTOTYPE AND PITCH THEIR COMPANY TO A LARGE AUDIENCE. GSE STUDENTS LEARN A GREAT DEAL ABOUT THEMSELVES AND OTHERS AS THEY LIVE IN A COMMUNITY AND DEVELOP LONG-LASTING RELATIONSHIPS. MENTORS WORK CLOSELY WITH STUDENTS DURING EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING AND HANDS ON DESIGN SESSIONS AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES. WELL-KNOWN GUEST SPEAKERS,VISITS TO STARTUPS,INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY SESSIONS, SPECIAL EVENTS, AND A WIDE RANGE OF RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ROUND OUT THE ARRAY OF ACTIVITIES. STUDENTS LEAVE GSE WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT TAKES TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL COMPANY.
THE KENTUCKY "KY PITCH" BUSINESS COMPETITION IS DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP BY ENGAGING COLLEGE STUDENTS FROM ACROSS KENTUCKY AND PROVIDING THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP AND PURSUE THEIR BUSINESS IDEAS. THE COMPETITION REWARDS BUSINESS MODELS THAT ARE JUDGED BY AN INDEPENDENT PANEL AS MOST INNOVATIVE AND MOST LIKELY TO RESULT IN SUCCESSFUL VENTURES THAT WOULD CREATE NEW JOBS FOR KENTUCKIANS.
